Topic: RE: It's Monday Already! Hope you Have A Nice Week
Good morning, Cali friends,
I am on vacation in beautiful Pacific Beach at the wonderful Crystal Pier cottages. I am looking out my window to see the surfers and the waves. There is a beautiful breeze and I am almost cold. What a nice change from the desert at home.
Tomorrow I have my 1st visit with the surgeon. I am so excited. I am hoping to get a surgery date. Wish me luck,
Sharon

Topic: RE: excersize??
I don't think you can actually gain weight at 2 weeks out. Aren't you "eating" something like 400 calories a day?! However, some people in the 1-3 week timeframe do find they start retaining a lot of water and the scale won't budge for a while until their body recovers from the initial shock of surgery and of starting up on regular food after being on a liquid diet.
But exercise is good for you and it really helps in maintenance so it's good to get in the habit now. My program recommends 45 min. of exercise 4-5 times a week as a minimum and their calorie and other recommendations are based on that.
You want, eventually, to do a combination of strength and cardio.
Also, you need to be careful the first couple of weeks out. I know I wasn't up for anything that really worked the core until about 2 months out and most us of are given lifting restrictions during that time as well.
The other things: be sure to take rest days! All fitness gains actually happen during recovery times. So you need adequate recovery or you will be minimizing your fitness gains.

Today I am taking it easy. Yesterday I raced a Half-Ironman and I'm kind of pooped today. I must have burned a lot of glycogen as I was down about 2-3 pounds since I weighed myself on Sat. It's not going to last but it's fun to see on the scale.

Yes folks, only 8 more days until I meet with my surgeon - I can NOT wait!
In talking to my NP prior to this meeting with my surgeon, the recommendation was 20-25lb loss. I am 0.2 lbs (yes that is a decimal point between the 0 and the 2) from hitting my 20lb mark!!!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend and an even better week!

Hi shantee,
Thanks so much for telling me everything, It seem that you really have to be your won advocate in getting this surgery... I have Dr. Taller too. I met with him and he was great. I will update everyone.. I will be so much more excited when i get a date.
