What about a program fee with the doctor's office?  The one I called had a $5,700 program fee - and others I'm seeing are anywhere from that down to $1,000.

I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO Premier; they covered my surgery, and informed me that I had to have it at a CoE (so I did have surgery at Good Sam in San Jose).

Seriously!! That's simply fantastic.  Can you tell me about your experience? What hospital/surgeon, what was the process like, etc.

Thanks!

Hmnn did they redo the plan?
i know they don't want you doing smoothies etc as empty cal.
They do encourage "real" food, prob. because it is easy to lean on the shakes/bars and not get real food in.
I had my VSG in Feb 2010, and have my binder. if you want to compare

Hey Barb, and all you So Cali folks, I had a relaxing weekend. Saturday we drove to visit a friend in Long Beach.  I walked up a flight of stairs, stopping only once to catch my breath. Then we did house chores and went to the market.  Sat night we were each relaxing with a book. Sunday Hubby and I went to church, then out to a friends place in corona and by the pool all afternoon until about 6pm. Gee it was nice  to sit by the pool and then jump in when the heat got around 100 degrees.

This week I have appointments and family visiting Tues and Weds. Then Friday I leave for Connecticut for a week of seeing more family and friends.  Hope to get a day or two in NYC.
Have a good week everyone.
Best, Amy

Hello,

Yes, I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO through my husband and I did have to pay a share of cost around $5,000. I had surgery one year ago. My RNY surgery was at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital through Dr. LePort's office. My doctor is Dr. Kelly Francis and she is great.

Not sure if I can be of any more help because I dont know much about insurance plans.   We saved up for a year to afford my surgery.

Best wishes,
Amy
