Topic: USA vs. Mexico...or anywhere else
I am blessed to have been born, raised and educatied in the USA -- NYC specifically. I now live in the #2 market, Los Angeles. Whie l am desperate to have my surgery, I just don't know why I would gamble with my life by going outside the US.
Let me explain. About 5 or 6 yrs ago, my husband and I got stuck in Mexico during Hurricane Wilma. It was a nightmare. When you are OUT of America, your life is not the same....Your rights aren't there and your freedom is less free.
I really want my surgery BADLY but my logic overcomes emotion which leads to bad decision making.
Just my .02....

Ok great! I will try my best. I just don't want to go alone, & my husband would have to stay at home with our daughter, since I'm sure there are no kids there. I would really like to start attending though!

I had Dr. Coirin...They work togeather. Try and make it to the support meeting on Monday...6:00pm in McHenry Village. Patty leads it (I'm sure you have met her with all the pre op stuff). I try and make it about every other month...Even almost 5 years out, I try to get there for support of the new people and to try and learn something new as an oldtimer. There is also another support group that meets at Bethal Church in Modesto...Patty would have more info on that one too. Brian
Topic: 6 yrs post OP, loose skin, married, BABY! FrEE photo session!
Hi all,
I am about 6 or 7 years post-op now and I thought I'd just update everyone!
I went from 240 lbs pre-op to my lowest weight, 128lbs within the first year. there was ALOT of extra skin in my arms and thighs but it doesn't bother me too much. I dumped my terrible boyfriend who I'd been with for nearly 10 years, and boy was that a life changer!
I am now married to the most wonderful man who loves and adores me. We married last year, and just this last April we started our family with the addition of my baby boy. I thought I'd share some of my photos!
To all members, thank you for supporting me through my journey, the ups, the downs, and the joys.
Also, for any of you that are interested, these photos were done my photographer, Remember Me Always photography, who's hosting a constest until tomorrow for a FREE PHOTO SHOOT! So don't forget to enter!

I have finished the Kaiser options classes and am now waiting for my surgical date (sometime in Sept). Live in High Desert area, and attend support classes there. This site has excellent info and Kaiser is wonderful with their help. Good Luck!

I have Kaiser also and they gave me specific diet guidelines for after surgery. Here's the link in case you want to take a look: http://xnet.kp.org/misg/bariatrics/after.html I am 2 weeks post-op and had my surgery at Kaiser West L.A. I am using the pureed foods as a guideline only, not following it exactly, but am getting my ideas from it. I can't possibly eat everything they have told me I should be having, but I have as much as I can. They also encourage the protein drinks.
Topic: RE: Welcome to Sunny Saturday
I had to spend my morning at the bank to do a bunch of paperwork to re-finance my car - that wasn't fun.
Then I relaxed at home and caught up on some movies I wanted to see.
I ended the day with a great workout at the gym - I ran .5 mile (and walked a couple more) (silly, but for me its great!) I'll be excited over that for a while :)

Good Morning,
Barb, Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful weekend.
I don't have much planned except the usual. Cleaning the house and grocery shopping. It is overcast here today. I hope it isn't going to be to hot. I like having the windows open instead of having the air on. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
