Yeah you will find that even within Kaiser, their programs differ vastly.  The Kaiser Fremont program endorses the use of protein shakes to supplement protein intake.  I have found that my protein needs are actually much higher than what the 'nuts' say it is and as such, eating that much protein would be too difficult with my new sized stomach.

If I just eat my minimal protein requirements- I dont lose weight but when I increase my protein, something within my body says "Cool, she's not starving us" and I drop weight much easier and quicker.  I shoot for 120 grams of protein a day.....nearly impossible to 'eat' that much and not risk stretching my new tool.  Mildly difficult even with a shake.  Right after surgery it is not possible to get the intake you need and it is very important for healing to have that protein.

Everyone has an opinion and all nuts/programs will differ.  In the end you have to do what works for you and what you are most comfortable with.  There is a lot of information you can gain from speaking with other bypass patients at support groups.
Good luck in your journey to a healthier you.  Best decision I ever made.

Willa

Check with your friend and see if she needs a computer desk as well.   I have a corner computer desk I need to get rid of.  Has a few scratches, but good condition.  May be missing a screw but can be worked with.  Free

My son moved to Huntington so we will be down there at least once a month.   We have been extremely busy getting things moved, painted etc. here but we still owe you and Dave a dinner.  I have not forgotten, September is getting a little crowded with work, painting etc.

let me know on the armoire and the desk as well.

thanks,
annette

I had my orintaton today and it went great and i learned a lot of things today. like the nut. said that we dont need to take protein shakes or bars, that we can get all the protein from out foods we eat, just follow the plan/rules and that should be enough. i go to the kaiser in Richmond ca and i am from Sacramento ca....

Today was my first day back to work post sleeve, and appendectomy.  It is amazing the looks on the people's faces.  You would think I spontaneously came back skinny!  Although I am wearing a blouse I have not worn in 3 yrs (I have had it hiding in my closet so one day I could wear it again!)

I too feel like a kid on Christmas..They just called and my classes start next week. I asked for a evening class but that doesn't start until Nov. So I told my boss and she is letting me leave early every Thursday!!! I am a nurse for mentally ill children so I hope nothing happens on Thursday for the next 12 weeks. My boss said she would take care of it!!!! I am blessed!!!

Congrat's Linda on your 2 year, the 186 lbs lost and your birthday.

We have the same surgeon but I am no where near where you are, nor do I want to be 135 lbs.  I started the program at 324 (+/-) and currently weigh 206.  I am just fine with that.  Would like to lose more, but I need to get out and exercise more.    I have no problem eating anything and never have.  Sometimes I wonder if maybe my pouch is just not small or if I stretched it.  My portions are still small but probably a little bit more than they should be.  Trying to get back on track.  Maybe if I used protein drinks to substitute a meal would help the losing to begin again, but the only thing with protein I can tolerate is Muscle Milk.

I'll get there again, just need to get my head right with the many things going on in our home.
I will be losing my job within a year and am in the process of getting my resume together to start looking.  Kind of scary considering I have never been unemployed since the age of 13 with the exception of medical or maternity leave.

Congrats again.
