Hi I guess by now all of you had your surgery done already. I have mine on October 26th. I'm freaking out. i as well am scared of the dumping syndrome how bad is it? with what foods does that cause and in how much quantity? Is it for just a little taste or a big bite? I see all these youtube videos of dumping that I'm really scared. I'm having the roux y bypass. How is my life going to be after the surgery? I think it's just typical jitters that we all have before a surgery but nonetheless any info from experiences helps.
Yes, it is normal to feel how you feel. Your best friend is gone! "FOOD" is only for living now. Eventually you will be able to eat anything as before, but less. with that being said, why? You took the journey, a hard one, for better life and post op wonderful things are waiting for you. Take it slowly and be careful. This is only a tool to manage obesity and you will need to incorporate coping skills (a lot), exercising, hydration, and vitamins daily. Simple carbs will make you gain and or stall your weight loss. They also can disagree with your tummy and cause you discomfort and pain. Stick to a bariatric food list and menu planning, and with some new hobbies... you'll be smiling and happy with your progress. Best wishes.
Hi, I have my surgery date for October 26th, I had my mind on the sleeve but due to past lap band complications the sleeve is not an option for me and the Dr. said he will do the roux y bypass. I'm kind of scared because I have heard about the dumping syndrome and if you could tell me why this happens, in what amount if you eat what you are not supposed to and how bad is it? I saw on youtube that a girl made herself a smoothie and drank it too fast because she was thirsty and then she got this dumping thing.
Is it true that you can eat everything again? I mean everything or is it forever that you can't eat again?
hi wondering if there are any support groups in the Inland Empire?
I appealed Kaiser 3x's even went to court. I moved out of Kaiser regions during the appeals. I was denied by that ruling as well Kaiser saying it's not medically necessary. I went from Hawaii Kaiser, Northern California Kaiser, to Southern California Kaiser. Even though it's all Kaiser it's all different. I have now undergone 2 surgeries SELF PAY (Dr. Agha) (thanks to my fiancé paying) I have a lot more work I need to make this journey complete but it's all a financial thing. I know what I have been through and waiting 12 years. Loosing 200+ pounds in 17mo. believe me I had excess skin that Needed to be removed and was medically necessary. I hope in the near future this will all be covered for weight loss patients.
Can any San Francisco folks give me advice on how easy or difficult it is to ride MUNI 1 week post-op of a VSG? I take the bus to work, and I'm a little wary of riding it so soon after my surgery. My commute isn't particularly hilly, but it is a little crowded. Any advice?
Surgery date: 08/24/15
Starting Weight: 260
Goal Weight: 160
Any one know if he's center sends you to do your preop testing or does your primary care physician. I have IEHP. TIA :-)
Hi I am a LA Care participant and in the mist of going for the sleeve. Well I tried to get an authorization to USC Keck from my Dr but the insurances denied it, one of the reason was because I need weight management. Well my Dr didn't know and neither did the coordinator so I called the ins that denied it and apparently he wasn't medically clear to answer that. So next week I will ask again but in the meantime to ease my mind does anyone in here with my same insurance thru Medi-Cal know what the insurance requires for weight management? Thanks
