Topic: support group meeting in San Jose coming up!
We will have our monthly support group meeting in San Jose this Wednesday, June 20, from 6-8 pm in the Theater Building of Hoover Middle School, 1635 Park Ave. New people are always welcome, and your support person is welcome as well.
Most of the group has either had the duodenal switch (DS) or is working towards it, but people interested in other wls types, or people who had not made a decision and want to learn more about all their options, are always welcome. There is no fee and no committment. It's a great way to learn more about your options in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
Interested but don't think your insurance will cover the DS? We discuss insurance issues and how to appeal denials all the time.

Hi California Board,
East Bay Bariatric is an independent, peer support group that meets on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the San Leandro Hospital. No need to register, meeting is free and open to all regardless of type of surgery or where you had your surgery. Just show up.
This month's meeting info:

Times: Pre-op/Newbies from 1:15-1:45 p.m. and everyone from 2-3:30 p.m.

Prior to coming to the meeting, take a moment to think of an area where you can use some support and raise that topic. Maybe it's late night snacking, not exercising, pushing the envelope or talking about all the great things happening since surgery. Think of a Magic Moment to share too as they are inspiring and helps us leave on a really happy note.
Bring any WLS-related magazines or products to share.

There is a great meet-up support group that meets once per month (first Saturday) in SF on Market Street, very short walk from BART. All surgical types are welcome, post and pre op. Let me know if you're interested.

Amy, I don't run this group, but we have a group that meets in San Jose the third Wednesday of every month from 6-8 pm. Patients of any surgeon are welcome, and your support person is also welcome. There is no fee and no committment involved.
The group is oriented towards the duodenal switch (DS), but people interested in other operations, or who are not sure what operation would best suit them and want to learn more, and also welcome. It's a small, informal, friendly group.

I'm new and the one thing that keeps getting drilled into my head is to find a support group. I'm in the South Bay area. If anyone runs a group in the area, can you let me know?
