Are you a patient of Dr. Mary Estakhri?
Here's her OH page http://www.obesityhelp.com/profiles/bariatric-surgeon/dr-mar y-e-estakhri/reviews?sort=created&filter=patients with patient reviews. Maybe you could PM some of those people :) Best wishes in your research!
I'm in the process of having Dr. Estakhri do my surgery by the recommendation of 2 friends who had the RNY 2 years ago. They can't say enough about her. They thought she was wonderful. Both their surgeries were success stories with no complications, dumping, pain or nausea issues. I found her to be very knowledgeable and confidence of the WLS. I have full trust in her.
Thank you so much for your reply! I could only find OH comments on her from 2010 or earlier and wondered if there was more input. I've met with her for the pre-op consult and really liked her - she was patient, answered all my questions and I felt she cares about this life changing work.
Are you in the pre-op classes? Have you been to a support group to see what the post-op folks say? I'm at least 4 months or more out from surgery but am learning so much.
Thanks again
What gave me have tons of confidence in Dr. Estarkhri is that my doctor referred me to her and told me she was a top surgeon in WLS. She's very highly recommended. I started this process and have attended the nutrition class and several support group classes. I find those very informative. I've also had most of my exams and tests. I have the modules (on-line classes) to complete, my appointment with the sleep apnea doctor on Friday and blood work next week. I'm hoping to have my surgery sometime in November/December. I have be honest, I'm somewhat nervous about having the surgery, but its not about the doctor. I'm hearing all the issues people have after the surgery. The gas pain, nausea, how it hurts to take your first swallow, etc. Those will be my next set of questions to Mary. Are you having bypass or the sleeve? You should come join us tomorrow at the support group at 5:15.
Cece2014, I went the support meeting today and there were 4 people who already had the Sleeve by dr. Estakhri and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. There was a person that just had her surgery 2 weeks ago and said she had no problems, no pain and feels good. Thought I'd share this with you. I know we've made the right decision to have Mary do our surgery.
Thanks for the updated info. I was actually having an out-patient procedure at ValleyCare and her name was mentioned in passing. I stopped the nurse and asked about her. His face lit up and said "she's really great". I think is was an honest response.
I haven't been to a support group yet (calendar conflicts) but am aiming for end of this month to attend. THANKS
