post op support groups in windsor/santa rosa CA area?
Hi friends! My scheduled surgery is Monday, April 16th, 2012 with Dr. Pamela Foster in Burlingame, CA. (which is about 2 hrs. from where I live.) there are support groups at the hospital where I will be having my RNY done....BUT....I was hoping to find a support system closer to home. Does anuone know of post -op gastric bypass support groups near Windsor/Healdsburg?Santa Rosa (sonoma county) area??? would love to make some new friends ! Takecare! Suzy
Hi Suzy,
I hope your surgery went well. I was looking around OH tonight, usually I just go to the RNY forum, but then looked into the "go local" for California. I live in Windsor and had my RNY bypass done at UCSF on March 22. The local support group I attend once a month, second Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center is very good. Hope to see you there. My name is Brenda, very tall, red hair. Look for me there, would love to meet you. Hope all is well, there's probably some rough days ahead for you if you're anything like me. Just remember to sip water constantly and everyday does get better.

Hi Brenda! THANK you for the wonderful info...my surgery went amaingly well! I was released Wed. night to come home. I had my RNY bypass done in Burlingame (thats where my insur. approved it for), but I'm glad they did, I loooove my Dr. (Pamela Foster) They have support groups at the hospital where I had my surgery, but its an almost 2 hr drive, so I wanted to try finding local one's. I didnt even know they had support groups at the Wells Fago Center. They're on the 2nd Sat. of the month? What time are the support groups? I would love to attend! I'm short with reddish hair...I would love to meet you! I too, live in Windsor. Gosh, i can't believe how full I get just with a few sips,or a couple teeny bites of soup,etc....I feel like I can tolerate a little more water today, I just have to remember tiny sips :o) Thanks again, Brenda!
Hi again Suzy,
Yes, the second Saturday of each month, Wells Fargo Center, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. I cannot recall the name of the room, but it is easy to find. Not the main big theatre, but it is a room off of the main lobby. There are signs and lots of people who are more than likely there for the same thing that can direct you.
Congratulations on doing so well! I was in the hospital for three nights, four days. And, yes, it is easy to get very full on next to nothing. My first two weeks I just couldn't take in more than 150 calories a day, my doctor was somewhat worried when I told him this because it is not normal. However, at 4 and 1/2 weeks out now there appears to be something going on that's not so normal either. Tonight I called my surgeon's office in San Francisco and left a message that I need to be seen. I won't bore you with the details, I wish I could say I too "looooove my doctor" but that would be a lie. I think he may not be as good as I thought and might have way over tightened everything so the passages are just too small.
Hope to meet you at the next meeting and here's my email in case you need any extra support in the meanwhile, [email protected]
Take care,
Brenda
