Moving back to CA
Hi Donna,
I actually run a very large support group in Raleigh NC and we have a very representational cross-section of weight loss surgery types. While their are some differences, we really have much, much more in common than you might think.
Like you, I thought I was going to have fit with all of that sweet stuff and just drinking broth didn't work for me, so I found a 'trick' that worked very well to satisfy my need for something savory while not undoing all of the work I was doing. I made broth based soups for my family and then strained them off for me. Sometimes, I would just infuse a broth, but usually I went ahead and made the 'real' thing so that it worked for everyone. I would make a broth based chicken soup, an egg drop soup, a hot and sour soup, a vegetable beef soup, a french onion soup, etc... again, I always strained them so that I was just enjoying the clear broth that had been infused with the flavors of the onions, garlic, spices and herbs... It made a difficult period much, much more tolerable.
I'll be here in Elk Grove through Monday, though I may go down to San Jose for the weekend. If you want to meet, just let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep in touch via OH and look forward to meeting you when we are able to make the move out this summer.
Wishing you all the best,
Barbara
