Hi all....I was very active on this site back in the "day", I had my WLS 2/2002, I managed to keep my weight off for a very long time but, in the past few years its been coming back at an alarming rate.  I had a open roux n y, no complications, it was a great experience!  I chose open rather than lap due to less complications, I weight 298 (I am 5'7) the day of surgery, I got down to 150, gained some and hovered at 170 for a very very long time.  Currently I am 254

I had my surgery in IL and we have now relocated to SF area, I am exploring the idea of a revision and am in need of a surgeon, I figured this would be the best place to ask! :)  We have Blue Shield of CA PPO, so, I do not need a referral...I have high blood pressure, severe anemia and depression over all the weight gained!

I appreciate any help you can give,

Linda

I had my  surgery at Alta Bates in Oakland but I did part of my pre-op appointments with Dr. Wetter with Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Burlingame.   He is wonderful and considered a fix it man for bad surgeries done in Mexico.   They only reason I didn't finish the process with Dr. Wetter is that they stopped being on contract with my insurance.

I would check with LapSF too. Dr. Cirangle has amazing stats and he does all these really hard cases that no one else will take.

I'd like to second the recommendation of Cirangle - he's brilliant to work with.  His office staff is also top-notch.  They've made my journey terrific.

Dr Mary Esthakri at valleycare in Pleasanton is amazing, even called me herself after a complication. Her staff has gone above and beyond so far with anything I need.  Go to valleycares website under bariatric services, they have an entire office to help you thru the process seamlessly.  I have your insurance as well and started dec 13, had surgery march 1.  Only a 2 day preop diet required by her as well!  Good luck!
