You can go to the website 5daypouchtest dot com for all the details. It basically walks you through the first 5 weeks of post op life in a 5 day period. I do this for 5 days, then jus****ch my calorie intake with a higher protein intake for two weeks and start the 5 day diet again. I do this 3 week cycle until I drop the weight.

As for script pills. I go to a place called American Medical weightloss center. They monitor my blood pressure and give me b12 shots (as well as track my weight loss). But you can get them from your regular doctor too. They are expensive though. Also remember that not many people (even doctors) understand our new insides. I established the breaking the dosages down on my own.

God bless,
Rachel

Thanks I will try the 5daypouchtest.com. taking the b12 shots vs sublingual is it better or the same, and the adipex, u were saying you established your own dosage? Do you take 1 pill aday, but cut it up?? Thanks for explaining. I need all the advice and in/outs I can get. How did the pills make you feel, when did you start noticing  a change with the pills & 5daypouchtest.com???

As I understand it, the sublingual is the same as the shot. Both are absorbed directly into the blood stream. Though I've heard of people that have trouble absorbing sublingually (not sure why this happens). Anyway, my weight loss doc offers the shot and it keeps me from having to sit around with a pill under my tongue.

As far as the Phen I take what ever dosage the doc recommend, but I break it in two. I take one half at 11 and the other around 3. This works for my hunger patterns. (And really helps me get the house clean after work! Yep you get a burst of energy!)

The pill  is immediately effective in terms of suppressing my appetite (A liberating feeling ala honey moon phase post op). But it really interrupts my sleep after a few weeks. The doc has given trazedone to counter balance the affect, but it sucks the energy out of me so I don't use it. After using Phen for about 3 mos. I have to stop just to get back into normal sleeping habits. Otherwise I would just stay on it and not have to worry about the dreaded regain. But I gotta sleep!

Just went to the weightloss doc today. I didn't gain anything over the holidays! Looking forward to watching my pants fit better!

Oh...I also walk/running on the treadmill for 45min - 1hr 5 days a week. Been doing this for a few weeks now. I'll add weight lifting in soon (it takes me a while to adjust to a new routine so a introduce it gradually).

Hope this helps! Keep me posted on your progress.

 Hello,

I had Dr. Baggs as well and really like him.  We have support group at kaiser richmond on the first and third Wednesday from 6-7:30.  It helps people stay connected.

I have a friend that had RNY ten years ago.  She put on weight over the years.  In February she started going to Weigh****chers with me and is down 40 pounds.

I don't think there are any quick fixes out there but going back to basics and  following the rules you were given at surgery still work.  You can call kaiser if you need a new binder with the food rules.

Protein first, limit carbs, vitamins, hydrate, exercise. At 22 months I follow that plan as closely as I can.

You can do this!

There are people several years out.  Kaiser doesn't do revisions because of weight gain.  They give us a tool and tell us how to use it.  The rest is up to us.

We had a kaiser plastic surgeon speak last year.  All cosmetic surgery is self pay with kaiser.  People don't talk about it much at support group.  Only my friends know that I just had plastics.

My name is Lee, please say hello on the third Wednesday so I know who you are.  The last meeting had a lot of pre-ops but also post ops.  Dr. Baggs is supposed to come speak one of these days.
