i agree with fighting the requirement. I too had a 25 pound requirement which skyrocketed to 40 pounds because of a 15 pound gain. I finally faced my fear and told my surgeon I needed help because I was having such a difficult time with the pre-op weight. she lowered the requirement to 20 pounds from my gained weight. so instead of 40 +, i only have to lose 20 but she also told me that if she sees at least a 10 pound loss by my pre-op appt that she would go ahead and start the auth process. just talk to your surgeon and tell him/her that this weight req is so difficult for most people and especially you. im sure they will make some sort of exception or they can probably bend the rules for you. my pre-op is feb. 10 and so far havent lost too much but I am just going to keep doing what im doing and pray that i get at least 10-15 down by that time and hopefully she'll submit for insurance approval. good luck!

I know exactly how you feel. but mine is a bit worse than yours. I went in for my bypass surgery on oct. 23 2009. when i woke up my daughter told me i didn't have that surgery but had a hernia fixed. end up having some liver problems . dr. leport saidhe will not do another surgery on me. so went to insurance to see if i could do some thing else. well they took forever to get back to me and now i have no insurance. and don't see getting any in the near future. i have been so depressed for the last 2 yrs. trying to snap out of it it but am having a hard time doing that. so don't give up you still have insurance and the possability is still there. so keep the faith and i will send some praters your way. if you need a shoulder to cry on and some support im me . good luck on your journey.
