does anyone have trouble swallowing after surgery?
I had all sorts of issue the first month that made it hard to get my fluids and protein in. I'm not sure if I'd call them a problem with swallowing but I couldn't drink a lot at a time without it getting backed up, for example.
I also forgot how to swallow pills. (Took me until about 2 months out to remember how!)
Normally you want to see yourself getting gradually better though. Any setbacks are a good reason to call your doctor's office.

Well I think that is from being intubated. It hurt me for about 10 days. The problem was, that I was drinking fluids and it felt like it got stuck half way down. My surgeon prescribed reglan to help my esophgus contract so that things will go down smoothly. Talk to your surgeon and see what they say. I was having to vomit because things wouldn't go down. Not even the protein shakes. Good luck and I hope you feel better. I am doing better one day at a time.
