Looking for a Kaiser buddy
I think it varies from surgeon to surgeon but I have a set of guidelines from my W. LA team. It's not all that helpful, honestly, so I'd love to hear what other people are doing.
I'm not really happy with So Cals Kaiser post-op support.

I am in N Cal. My surgery was in Richmond. We got an extremely specific diet. One of the significant differences from most plans is it allows no protein drinks. We aren't supposed to ever drink anything with calories after the first few weeks. Even then, it's soup. Not smoothies or anything. Does anyone else have this rule? I guess the idea is that liquids and soft foods don't stay in you stomach long enough to keep you feeling full.

I have Kaiser also and they gave me specific diet guidelines for after surgery. Here's the link in case you want to take a look: http://xnet.kp.org/misg/bariatrics/after.html I am 2 weeks post-op and had my surgery at Kaiser West L.A. I am using the pureed foods as a guideline only, not following it exactly, but am getting my ideas from it. I can't possibly eat everything they have told me I should be having, but I have as much as I can. They also encourage the protein drinks.
