Hello Everyone -

Just wanted to share that my 2 year surgiversary was on Thursday 7/14 with experiences I have had.

I am happy to report that I have not gained any weight.  I am not losing, but I am not gaining. According to medical reports I should weigh like 140.  Yea, in my dreams.  Personally I think I would look very sick at that weight.  My goal would be to reach 165, but since I have not lost but a couple of lbs. over the last year I am also ok with that.  If I never lost another lb. I am ok with that as well.

FOOD - Eating for me has always been easy after my RNY.  Have never really had any complications, or dumping.   YAY!!!   On the other hand, if I did have dumping I guess the weight would come off this way as well (Ewww).   I also have no issues with sugar but I do limit it.

At about the 1 year mark I did experience I can't handle hotdogs (any type).  I do however eat just about everything.  Believe it or not, Frozen Yogurt (Golden Spoon) does not agree with me.  I can eat a SF ice cream bar with no problems,  I have always loved pasta but it does scare me. Because I am afraid of pasta, rice, bread it is very, very limited.  I sure do miss it though.  A spoon or a couple of bites for me will do and that is a sacrifice I am willing to make to keep my weight loss where it is.

Stress from work is still a big factor in my life and I find myself looking for chocolate.  I was doing this for a bit and decided to just keep licorice at my desk instead of chocolate.

EXERCISE - I began taking Zumba classes a few months ago 1 night a week.  I liked it so much I decided to go 3 nights a week.  I recently had to stop taking the classes (personal reasons), but I sure miss it.  I am going back in about 3 weeks.  I thought for sure when I decided to do this I was going to die.  It is actually a great de-stresser for me so I NEED to go back and I am.

CLOTHES - This has been the most amazing thing to go from a size 4x, (36/38) in tops to a size XL and maybe a 1x depending on fabric, and a size 38/40 in pants to a size 18.   Recently went shopping and bought a dress in the Misses section size 18 and was just floored.  My daughter went shopping with me and she hooked me up with matching things and looking summery etc..  I needed a swimsuit and did not find one at Kohls.  I did go to Fashion Bug for this because I do have the extra skin but needed something with a long skirt due to the skin on my thighs.  I found one there in a size 16.  The dress/skirt on it is long enough to cover and not show the extra skin and my daughter said my butt looks cute LOL.  Hubby is in for a surprise on the clothes and swimsuit this week in Vegas (he has not seen any of the clothes).  We are going on Tuesday for 3 nights to celebrate our 24th anniversary.

MEDICATION - Prior to my surgery I was taking a total of 11 medications for a total of 22 pills a day.  This did not include any supplements / vitamins as I have never done that.  Today I take 3 medications for a total of 5 1/2 pills a day plus all my supplements / vitamins.  Diabetes is G-O-N-E.  High blood pressure is completely & totally under control but PCP has me on 1/2 tablet of medication until I lose another 20 lbs.  At the rate I am going, I may never get off of that 1/2 tablet, (need to work on that). The other 5 tablets are for depression and anti-seizure.  I will probably never get off of the remaining 5 tablets.

ENERGY -       WOW!!!    I never let my weight interfere with my daily activities, children or my marriage.  Why should I do that when I let myself get to the weight of 324 lbs and no one else's fault but my own.  Well today I go, go, go.  I do things that I would choose not to do before.  I can climb stairs, go walking, run around the back yard playing with my grown kids without getting winded.

I LOVE MY RNY!!!!  Anyone who asks, has questions, concerns or just wants to know I tell them. Of course I also let them know that I am one of the very lucky ones with absolutely no complications.

Since surgery I have made a valiant effort at staying positive on WLS.  This is not an easy thing to go through, it is a mind game and struggle and for some reason being fat in my mind will always be there.  I avoid negative people on WLS as I have no time for them nor the energy to educate them.  This includes family as well.  There are family members I have blocked on my FB account and I no longer talk to because they choose to be negative and ignorant.

I love all my WLS friends here on OH, those I have met along my journey, and the WLS friends I have on FB.

Wishing you all continued success on your journey.  Thanks for reading my long post.
Now I must get moving here as I have lots to do today so we can leave for our mini vacation / anniversary.

Two years comes very quickly. I never thought I'd say that. My 2 yrs will be 9/8/11. I picked my own goal and I may never reach it but that's ok. I never thought I'd make it below 200 lbs.

All the best to you Annette. You are a superstar!

Linda
