Question for Kaiser patients Especially richmond Kaiser
Hi my friend is having the sleeve done through kaiser and she is going through the richmond program I wanted to know the steps for her. She is new to all of this and I wanted to help releave some of the stress for her. Any and all help or advice would be great thanks... Especially if they make you take the options classes or classes at all, how long is the process, do they still require the 10% weight loss.
No options classes.
Weight requirement differs by surgeon. It's their choice based on health risks etc.
I took the 2 hour class at the beginning of November. I was still interested. My PCP referred me to the 5 hour orientation class that I took mid November. At the 5 hour class, they weigh you when you walk in and that's your weight that the surgeon uses to determine necessary pre-op weight. I went on the 1200 calorie weight loss food plan. I was scheduled with one surgeon soon after that, but asked to wait for Dr. Baggs next opening which was mid-December. I was not religious with my food plan during December to mid January when my son was visiting from the east coast. Mid January I got serious and finished dropping the weight. When I reached goal I had my case manager appointment, then had my physical and they scheduled surgery for February 17th. Somewhere in there I had the psych evaluation. I thought it was pretty fast, 3 months from orientation to surgery.
Kaiser has a support group from 6-7:30 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Third floor conference room. I would highly recommend your friend come to some support group meetings. Why not come with her?
