 Hi Everyone
I had surgery in Oct 2005 and since last year had Kaiser insurance. I am going through some upper GI/Acid Reflux issues so my doctor here in Modesto is referring me to Fresno- Does anyone have a suggestion to a good Kaiser Bariatric doctor? good experiences? know what they are talking about when it comes to working with RNY patients? any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as here in Modesto this is very frustrating! Thank you!

Sabrina

Hello,
I am also wondering the same thing. I am still working though the various steps and classes with Fresno Kaiser in order to have VSG surgery soon so I cannot recommend a bariatric doctor (yet).

However I also have some GI issues (ulcerative colitis) and Dr. Sheikh is my GI doctor. I have also meet Dr. Roullard who is also a GI specialist. They are both great doctors and very informative and willing to listen.
Sorry I can't be more help

I'd call patient services for Kaiser in your area. I have Kaiser in southern CA, and I go through a Kaiser clinic that has a few doctors that deal with bariatric surgery pateints, doing follow up for labs etc.  Check with them and they can likely direct you to a doctor and then probably a referral to a specialist.  Kaiser down her is making an effort to have their doctors "get up to speed" about bariatric surgery pateint. My wifes internist (her PCP) made the comment to her last year. DAVE

Hi everyone well its been a week and I still do not know the results of my upper GI barium test and my PCP here in Modesto has not given any further information other than "it is ok" and you will have to go to your bariatric doctor in Fresno....hmmmm didn't have RNY originally with Kaiser so this is even more frustrating.....Dr Patrick Coates did my surgery and did a wonderful job btw wish I still had insurance to cover to see him- to get my issues resolved! It is no fun losing your teeth as I am with all of the acid problems I have....so if anyone reads this please let me know if you see a bariatric specialist in Fresno...Thank you

I went to an orientation with the Bariatric department on Friday and I met Dr. Alvarez who is the head surgeon on the bariatrics department. He seems very nice and very informed. My coworker recently had VSG through Dr. Boghossian at Fresno Kaiser and she loved him as her doctor.

You should give Fresno Kaiser Bariatrics department a call. Diane Rouse is the bariatic coordinator and her # is 559-448-4646. she should be able to answer any questions that you may have.
