6 Days Post-Op
I think I'm confused.
My nut. diet says 65-85 grams of protein everyday and 8 glasses of water. along with the soups and puddings and jellos and stuff.....I don't get it. I can barely finish a cup of yogurt. I can't get a full protein shake in and I can eat maybe 3 tablespoons of soup at a time.
I'm assuming that I'm supposed to be building up to all of the grams of protein and water and stuff.....but, I'm reading other peoples stories, and food intake and stuff who are a few more weeks than me and I don't understand how these people are are having like....40-50 carbs and these laundry lists of food....
Maybe I'm just thinking too much, but, it's hard not to think about food when I'm being so vigilant.
Any advice or help? thanks cali friends :)

The more grams of protein you can get in the better you will feel. Remember to make what you eat or drink count. I was told that they liquid protein that you drink (protein water, or shake etc.) counts toward your water. You will feel like you are sipping or eating small amounts all day. It does take a while to build up to all of it. Don't over stuff yourself trying to eat all the nut says because when you overeat it will really hurt and you will probably throw up. Relax and just do what you can. Good Luck!
what does NUT mean? I know nutritionist but not the rest. or maybe I'm wrong.
Anyways - she's right, you need to give your pouch time for the swelling to go down so just sip sip sip! You'll probably be doing that all day long. You could always add unflavored protein into your water or soup too. Protein helps you heal faster and will help you hair from falling out so remember that!

nut is short for nutritionist. I'm not calling her nuts, I'm just shortening her name.
I think I'm just having an off day. It's tough here to be doing the alone. The hospital said I'm not poor enough to recieve help from them so, with my mom in TN and me here in CA for another 3 weeks, I have to stick it out on my own. It's just proving to be really difficult.

It is normal to feel a bit blue after surgery even if you have your family with you. You are still getting all that stuff from surgery out of your system. As you go on you will probably have some buyers remorse and it is all normal. I started feeling very depressed at about 3 weeks. Make sure you are getting enough protein and taking your vitamins. Don't be hard on yourself! Keep posting whenever you need support or just want to share your victories! We want to hear it all. We are here for you!
I had tried everything like everyone else. My husband is a RN and he was very much against WLS. My P.A. had the surgery about 6 years ago and husband talked to him about it and learned how they had perfected the surgery since it begin years ago. After watching me try all these years he decided to help me and encourage me with the surgery. I met the requirements of my health insurance since I had been going to Jenny Craig off and on for 2 years so they waved the 6 month medically supervised diet. I first went to see Dr. Swartz in June and had my surgery the next Sept. I would of had it sooner but he took the month of August for vacation. I am really happy that I had the surgery. I really lost too much weight at first, which is normal for the Roux-n-y and I am staying at about 120-125 now and I really feel so much better.
If I can be of any help to you please PM me any time. Good Luck.
My BMI was 41, I had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and I snored very loud.

It does take time to build up to the amounts needed because there is alot of swelling. My hubby was frustrated because I was home alone from day one because he could not get off work. He is a retail manager and from Halloween on I might as well be single. They sent me home with instruction for soft food, liquids and vitamins. The protein they didn't even care about till I was 3-4 weeks post. I ate alot of popsicles, jello and pudding, which all count as water.
It still surprises me how different all our dr can be, but I have never heard of 6 weeks of clear liquids. I would be in the bathroom all the time and not in a good way, if you know what I mean.
