OK I am a little confused and worried, I had my surgery on April 4Th and my doctor said I could start eating cottage cheese, yogurt or a soft boiled egg. I am not going to lie I have eaten the cottage cheese and had no problems. No cramps dumping nothing as a matter of fact it made me feel better. It is just that I hear so many people have to wait two or three weeks to start soft foods. I know I am doing what the doctor told me but am still worried could this mess something up.I feel so good very little pain. I can sleep on my side and lie flat on my back. I have energy no complaints but I read all these post on how bad people feel. Can not eat, feel sick to their stomach, or cant sleep.Did I mess something up and the surgery is not going to work because I do have the normal pains and problems. I wonder if the doctor made my pouch small enough? Now I am not complaining that I am not in pain or anything just wanting ti know if anyone has had it as easy as me? Any in put would help.

Hey Kimberly, I was wondering how your surgery went. I am only a month ahead of you, and I too ate with no problems.( eggs soft foods soups)  I like you had no problems. The surgery was a breeze and to think all that worry.  What I am noticing now is the restricting more, and when I eat too fast , or something my stomach does not agree with I  throw up. In the beginning I did not have that problem. So be careful, take it slow, i know you feel great now. I ask about pouch size when I went for post op visit and Dr. said that they uses the same size for both gastric and sleeve (although diffrent procedures)  i think it was 32 or 34. I can feel the restricted more so now that I can play with different kinds of food.  How much have you lost and are you walking? It does make a diffrent. Keep me posted on your progress

Everybody reacts differently. Only 30% of the people who have RNY dump. You are just going to have to be extra careful. You will also find out that some things you can eat and some things you can't. Some things you can eat today and to tomorrow. It is all so strange! LOL

Good Luck!

Congratulations on an easy recovery!  You haven't done anything wrong, sounds like all is perfectly well.  The one thing I've learned is to listen to my body - my sleeve runs the show, LOL, and so will your pouch.

Although we've had different surgeries, I think a couple things apply to all of us and will help as you transition into foods:  ****at a measured amount.  Don't eat till you feel full, just eat your measured amount, even if it takes a while to eat it.  (2) Pay attention to your pouch.  There will be things it doesn't like, and things that go down just fine, and there will be days when you can eat your measured amount, and days when you can't.  On those days when you can't, STOP.  You'll be glad you did, haha.

Hi Kim...you have received wise advice from the previous posters...each patient/person reacts in his/her own way to the surgery and each doctor has his/her own food protocol.  When I told my surgeon that I was feeling great..she looked at me and asked why I thought I should feel any different...she said the majority of patients rebound from surgery quickly and have very little problem.  Just take your time introducing new foods..your pouch may be touchy, remember you are still in the healing process and will be for a good 3 months!  Do NOT push the envelope...you won't hurt the pouch but you will make yourself feel very very uncomfortable, if not down right ill.  I made the mistake at 4 weeks, ate steak...and paid the price...oh man, I didn't think it was ever going to go thru the openings! LOL
Count your blessings that you are having a truly uneventful recovery...this is what your surgeon wants for you!! Just follow his/her instructions...if you run into a bump or two...don't hesitate to call them and ask questions!  They are your best source of information.  We can tell your our experience..but this is YOUR journey...Enjoy!! ;-)

As long as you follow your plan you should be alright, it seems like everyones doctor has a different plan, and they really vary, Some people have an easy time of it, some people dont, it really depends on your body. As for food,I remember in the begining I could eat something for a couple weeks then about 2 weeks later I could no longer eat it, and Hubby and I are still that way, its all about trial and error, Good Luck and remember follow your plan!!
