I had a good deal with Fremont,  I went to my orientation class in Dec 09 and could have been scheduled for surgery in April but postponed till June so I would not have to think about going back to work for a couple of months, (summer break) They required at that time to lose 10% of our weight first before we could be scheduled....no problem there,  had that almost done when I was scheduled to see the surgeon a month later.....all visits were good everyone was really great,  hospital stay was easy, nurses were helpful early morning surgery,  one night stay and no complications,  pain or anything else.  Great bunch of people.

I don't know if the requirements have changed at all with Fremont,  but hope for a speedy process for you.  It is awesome to be rid of that weight,  now my job to keep it off forever.  It is easier than I thought it would be but a lot of work no less.  The VSG was the only surgery I wanted.........considered the band,  lucky found out about problems with that before going through with it,  rny was just too scary for me,  all that switching around of things and ,having friends with trouble with that so VSG was my choice and would do it again in a heartbeat if necessary.  Hope this helps.

Good  luck  to you and keep us posted through all this.

I'm in modesto as well! I had RNY with Dr. Coirin on August 13th (Friday the 13th no less!) He's a wonderful doctor, actually have my 6-7 month maintenance class tomorrow night =)

As for how long it took..that will depend on your insurnace! My insurance demanded a 6 month physician supervised diet journal/log. Blah I tell ya! BLAH! Very worth it though!

RNY - August 13, 2010

LBL - October 29, 2012

a total of 271 lbs lost!!

I'm in Manteca also... we used to have a group that would meet for lunch once in a while, but I haven't seen them here...maybe we could do that someday soon.

Hi. Welcome!  I'm in Manteca. I was going to the Kaiser in Fremont also, but no longer have insurance so I'll have to restart it later.

Hi, I am in Merced. I had the RNY with Dr. Swartz at Advanced Bariatric in Fresno. I am so glad that I had it done. I have heard really good things about the VSG. Please keep posting and feel free to join in on any other post, that is the way to get to know everyone. We also have a Nor Cal luncheon once a month in Concord. New Barb will be posting for them. They are really fun. Since I live in Merced I don't make it every month but the people are just the nicest and so friendly. Good Luck and keep us posted.
