my surgery is Tuesday the 22nd
I went to the gym and walked today for a half hour Ive had so much personal challenges going on the past 3 years I am anxious to start new on different levels. I know the surgery is just a tool but its also the best life changing step I can take. I know its a tool I get excited thinking how much money I will save not buying junk food. I guess i sound like a nut. I am glad they have this site. i hope eventually to bond with some locals who can relate to this type of journey. I am lucky to know 2 friends i see occasionally who's life has gotten better. I do have a question those celebration Vitamins are they actually better than the regular kind? because they are designed for baratric patients? Just wondering'

I'm 2 years post op and have used the suggestion of my surgeon and that was to purchase vitamins locally because of convenience and price. I get all of my vitamins at either Costco or WalMart and my labs have ALWAYS been spot on perfect.
You're right life has gotten better, no more diabetes, asthma is under control for the 1st time is years, no more high blood pressure, high cholesterol or snoring (I never had sleep apnea) and my husband is happy about that! I can keep up with my hubby when walking and hiking. Seatbelts fit on airplanes and I can even lower the tray and use it.
I do have to work the tool and sometime need a good swift kick in the butt to get back on track too. The further out from surgery I am the easier it is to fall back in to old habits. So yes, it's a tool and I have to work it too! I have not drank soda for 3 years now and suprisingly I don't miss it. I do love my tea and coffee tho and I won't give those up! I do eat popcorn though with no issues. I don't do well with "puffy" breads or rolls so I avoid those but that's not too bad either!
Congrats!
Hugs,
Barb
I take Bariatric Advantage. I get a shipment every 3 months. My surgeon said I could get them a Costco now. I probably will change soon to save some money. I am 1 year 6 months out. I am so happy I had WLS. I had RNY. I have heard wonderful things about the GVS though. Pleas keep posting and letting us know how you are doing.
So excited for you to start your journey tomorrow! It is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. I will also repeat what Barb said.. I'll be 2 years out in July and I can see myself slipping into my habits again and it is sometimes hard since I haven't gotten to goal yet. That being said... I am still working hard, exercising 4 times a week and watching my food trying to get this off. I did start at 385 and have lost almost 140 so that in itself is a success.. but it's a lifelong journey. All I can say is find a way to work on the head issues while you are losing so quickly in the first year, etc. and it will benefit you greatly!!
Life is SO different and the fact that I am healthy now and able to exercise and live like a human being now is my greatest gift. Wouldn't change a thing!!!
I wish you a smooth surgery and recovery and all the best!!

One of my support groups suggested that us 'oldies' should read more of the newbies posts...your excitment and enthusiasm is contagious. It takes us back to our beginnings...reminds us how we felt when we were just starting out. Also reminds us that 'the honeymoon' might be over...now it's time to really concentrate on all we've learned. You are off to a great start with your attitude that this is a TOOL...learn to use it wisely and imprint on your brain the prinicipals of weight loss...they will serve you well for the rest of your life ^_^
Good Luck tomorrow and hurry back to let us know how you are! WE CARE!!! ;-0
