Hi
I know it says I am in Oklahoma but originally I was a Cali girl. I had Dr. Taller and he is absolutely amazing. He is caring and compassionate and knows the surgery well. He is not only a great surgeon he is a great person. I have no doubt that you will do great under his care. All of the docs at PacBar are great and of course I am partial to Taller since he was my surgeon but he really is an amazing surgeon. He will also sit down with you right before surgery and answer any last minute questions and make sure you are ok.

Good luck!! It is so worth it!!

Nathalie

Thank you Nathalie for your post. It is getting down to the wire now, so I am getting nervous questioning my decision. And now with the change of doctors. But I too have heard great things about all these doctors here at Par Bar.  How much did you lose may I ask?  How were you feeling in the first ferw weeks after the surgery?  Thanks again

Hey no problem. And as for asking about my weight this is probably the first time in my life I dont mind telling people how much I weigh. My starting weight was 296 on the day of surgery I was 275 and as of this morning I am 152. Also I am still losing. It has slowed down but I'm still losing. So since surgery I have lost 123 lbs and total I have lost 144lbs. My first few weeks energy wise was great. I did however develop a stricture but it was managed with endoscopic dilations. Dr. Taller was there every step of the way. I am not a typical case with the stricture and most of my friends who have had the surgery have been complication free. Once my stricture was resolved everything has been great. I have more energy, I feel great, and I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat.

One thing I did get tired of was jello... If I never eat jello again I will be a happy camper. You are going to do great. It is normal to be nervous but this is one of the best decisions you can make. If you have any other questions you can mail me here or find me on facebook.

Hope this helps and I hope I didn't scare you.

*hugs*
Nathalie

Thanks Nathalie, I love this board. Your  are very warm and friendly and I appreciate your honesty. No, you didn't scared me. Just figure out what a stricture was last nigh. I went to my support group tonight and two of the gentlemen was questioning their decision about the surgery. But other than that feeling good cant wait until next month at this time.Another question for you how soon did you have to buy clothing. I work in a office with a strict dress code, thinking maybe I should pick up a few things. Your thoughts

I lost pretty quick in the beginning and went down about 4 or 5 pant sizes in about 4 months. There were times I even skipped sizes because I held out a little longer. Where my clothes were big but they didn't look bad. Just recently I was wearing a 14 in jeans and finally decided to get new ones and went straight into a 10 and they were a bit big but I'm not quite small enough for an 8. I also got lucky by going to the coffee meet and greets and having friends who did the surgery before me. I had a lot of pass me down clothes. I knew eventually I would be able to wear them so I got a few sizes that were too small. I wouldn't go overboard with the new clothes since as I said before if you are an 18 you might pass 16 completely and go straight into a 14. I also know of some people who get clothes taken in at a tailor if they can afford it. Ross is a life saver and I also like super sales at Target. I just got pants for 6 bucks. Never ever have I gotten clothes so cheap. Hope this helps a little and good luck with the rest of your journey. I am not on here much anymore but sometimes I do drop in. If you have any other questions you can email me. I will send you a message with my personal email address.
