So after months and months of working toward my goal i got approved!!! Lap Band surgery here i come!! My surgery was for Dec 1st 2010 (a few days ago....) and when i went there to begin pre-op i found out he had sent in papers to my insurance to be approved for Gastric Bypass! Upon calling his office to figure out what happened i was told that my file said Lap Band and someone made the decision to file for gastric bypass without my knowlege. Now im back home without surgery and waiting to speak with the dr, who now has said he wants me to come in to his office (4hrs away!) for a sit down!!!

Okay here is an update :) So Im not sure if this is sabotage or just normal when you are forced to sit back and look at your situation but i have been TERRIFIED that Lap Band is the wrong choice for me! im scare of the long-term results so I have been obsessively reading this site for long-term Lap-Banders :) Last night I read this article here about all in all being happy or sad about the choice to get it and almost EVERYONE is happy. Reading the success stories (and even the struggles) is so inspiring to me I know this is the right choice.
Well after the run-around from the Drs office (its been over a week since the no-go on my wrong surgery) I finally got some sort of answer; the Dr needs me to come back in for a sit down before he will re-send the proper paperwork :*( I am sad and a little shocked that this is falling on me when HIS office filed the wrong paperwork...but he is the only one who accept my type of INS (Medi-Cal) in my area so I feel like I have no choice. The receptionist seems to hate that ive been calling almost everyday to find answers and getting her to give me a straight answer is like pulling teeth. I am very disappointed with that office...some have even suggested Malpractice and such...all i want is my surgery that I have been working towards. So I finally got a date to go back in and its the 14th so I will keep you all posted!
OK....well after I left his office I got 5 little prescription pads with tests that I need to have done before my surgery (2/23) which I thought was so odd as when I was approved for LapBand and Bypass I totally didnt have any of these! Ugh fine I thought I will go ahead and get these damn things done, they included Pulm Eval (Lung X-ray), Cardiac Eval (EKG/stress test), Endocrine Eval (Labs), Upper GI Eval (Barium Test) and then I was supposed to see a Nut again to discuss the post-op diet. SO MANY TESTS! Also since my surgeon was four hrs away I had to make the calls and get the appointments done myself...not sure if everyone else did too but man it seemed like such a lot to do. Anyhoo I was able to get all of them done except the Nut. as she had retired since the last time I saw her...that one I am still working on. Also when I went in for the Endocrine stuff I guess the surgeon never put what test I needed labs for so the Drs and Nurses werent sure what to do. They even tried to call the surgeons office but he was out till Tuesday (it was Fri) and no one there seemed to know what he needed either. I was given basic Labs but thats it. Well when I called the surgeons office today Im told I also need to get my medical history and also that the Labs werent the right ones. UGH! The surgeon isnt answering his phone so at the earliest maybe tomorrow I will know whats up.
I just feel like every time I think im getting closer to my goal something else pops up. Im afraid im going to be on this liquid diet (again) take the time off work (again) get the kids outta school (again) drive all the way down there for surgery (again) and then be turned away.....(AGAIN)....so much wondering and questioning. Maybe Dr A in Mexicalli is best...even worth paying for something I can get for free....I dont know. I LOVE this site and dont know what Id do without it...thanks for the support

I am sorry you are having such a difficult time. The fact is the doctor's office really doesn't care. If this was for them or one of their family members they would not put up with this kind of treatment. I wish they could realize that our time is just as valuable as theirs. The last thing they want to admit is that they made a mistake. As far as the blood test go, they know what he wants done because they pretty much order the same ones for everybody. Well you try to stay calm and hang in there. Please keep us posted on everything and good luck.
