I'm 2 1/2 years post-op, sliding back into old habits

Well not sliding, diving head first!  Been drinking, eating horribly due to depression, fibromyalgia and life in general.

We're finally getting things settled and I feel I'm at a great place to start over and would love some help, if you'll have me.

As some know, I'm not super social so I don't do the LB Coffee thing... I just don't think I could handle it emotionally.

Can someone point me into the right direction to get back to losing weight?  I've gained about 20lbs from my lowest and I know it's b/c of the drinking, lack of exercise because I'm ALWAYS in so much pain from the Fibro.... it's an endless cycle but I want to stop it and live my life!!!!

I mean it this time.  I'm going to be on here more and I've given out my IM address if anyone wants to chat.  I'd love that.

Thanks for all you guys do!

Crysti

Hey Crysti,

Welcome back darlin you are always welcome.  My best advice if you don't have a support group is to come here and keep asking for it.

Hi Crysti...

I've been there with depression and I watched my Dad suffer fibromyalgia and I know it can't be easy.   It is great that you are so ready to take control again and coming to this site is a great place for support.

I am 1.5 years out and at a stand still... and also trying to take control so I'm right there with you girl!  We can do it!

Hugs!

Jackie

It's hard when life keeps slapping you in the face, I turn to vices... a very hard thing to change, but I am going to try my best and get this weight off and back down to my lowest.  If I can get there, I'll be happy!!

Good Luck Jackie!

Hang in there sweetie.  You can do this!  Character comes not from what is thrown at us, but how we handle it!   Drinking is a short-term "feel good" that has long-term consequences.  First step (if you really mean this) is to pour ALL the booze down the drain.  Gone.  Get it out of your house.  Next, clear your cupboards and fridge of all that crap you are not supposed to eat.  Fill your cupboards with good healthy food.

Next time you feel depressed or down in the dumps and want some booze, throw on a jacket and take a walk.  I know dealing with fibro is tough, so if you can't walk, go outside and deep breathe in the fresh air.  The fresh air will infuse your body and help lift your mood.  Take a yoga class or a meditation class.  Or a Tai Quan Do or something low impact.  Stimulate your MIND!

Go volunteer at a nursing home to read to the patients who can't see well enough to read or are not strong enough to hold a book.   Just make it a point to get OUT OF THE HOUSE each day and stimulate your senses.

Visit this site daily.  Post how your day has gone every day.  Tell us what you've done to improve yourself.  We'll listen -- I know where you are.  I've gained 25# and am in the process of getting rid of it.  I developed a couple of bad habits and time to get rid of the suckers!!!  I know better.  Just thought "it can't happen to me".  HA!  It did -- bit me right in the butt too!
