has any had surgery at Scripps Pacific Bariatric San Diego
Oops, only saw your post today, but, I know you are in great hands! I had my surg back in Oct 2007 with Dr Tanaka, one of the other surgeons in this office. Honestly, the staff is ok, nothing outstanding, but the docs are great. I know other people who have had Zorn and love him. One of the best things is the party they have every year, I think it's usually in Oct, to bring back everyone for a few days to celebrate, try and come back for that, it's really fun, Good luck and enjoy the new YOU!
Yes, ma'am! I had my surgery in January 2001 with Dr. Tanaka. Scripps Hospital staff was great but I always found the Pacific Barriatrics office to be rushed and rude when I called with questions/concerns (and failed miserably returning phone calls). Also, the post-op follow-up care was weak sauce in comparison to my more recent revision surgery - who's office still calls once every 3 months just to say hi and see how things are going. I wish PB had provided me with a more structured protocol when I had my surgery (again, this was a while ago - maybe things have changed).
After 6 years of maintaining goal, I gained back 1/2 of my weight (due to poor choices and not following diet - admittedly my fault)...when I called them 5/09 to discuss this and see what my revision options were or how they could help me get "back on the wagon,"...they were short, told me they "didn't do revisions" and that was that. No pointing me in the right direction, referring me to a specialist or other surgeon that handles revisions, etc., offering info on current support groups...nada. I was a cash pay $22500 patient and while I was happy with the short-term care of the office staff, I was less than impressed with their long-term care plans. Having said that...as an individual, Dr. Tanaka is a skilled surgeon and was awesome...I wish he could have also performed my revision and I was surprised he did not offer anything of the like. Where do his other failed WLS patients go?? Are we all left to fend for ourselves?
Aside from the above...I have to note that I live in Scripps Ranch girly, so if you need a support buddy, I'M HERE. We can walk around the lake, grab coffee or whatever. :) Trust me, you will need and love all the support you can get from fellow patients. I had infinite questions and there was nothing like OH back then (that I was aware of anyway).
