Good luck, Kandis! I start my classes next week and am very excited. BTW, about the psych exam, what if you are already under the care of a Kaiser psychiatrist? Would that count or do you need to go to a particular psychiatrist?

Hello VNARN,

Congrats on even getting into a class. I know I had to wait a while but hopefully they have sped things up. I would think that if you are already going to a Kaiser psychiatrist that that would count towards your class since you already have someone that knows if you are mentally prepared for surgery or not. But, you know Kaiser and they have their own rules.
I don't have to see a particular one, just one from Kaiser behavioral health. When I called for an appointment they just gave me a random one.
You will love going to your class as I did. It is very helpful. You'll need a big binder as each week you'll be given a new packet to put in it. I also found the food journals and exercise journals to be helpful in the aspect that it really showed me what I ate and what I need to eat more of.

Thanks, Kandis! I am really looking forward to the classes. Which doctor are you hoping for? I went to a seminar for Pacific Bariatric last night, but I hear there is a long wait with them.

Unfortunately or fortunately Bakersfield Kaiser is sending us to San Joaquin Hospital here in Bakersfield. We have 3 surgeons to choose from. I heard also that Pac Bar is backed up but they have excellent docs there.
I did go to one of Pac Bars seminars when they came to town. I think it was Dr. Tanaka I met. He was really nice.

I am going through Pac Bar and the wait time is very long. I graduated from my options class way back on Oct 4 and will not have my surgery until April 4. My surgeon is Dr Rumsey and is really nice. I have nothing but great things about Pac Bar but still a little upset about such a long wait time. I wish I would of known about the other places Kaiser would allow us to go. You are lucky Kandis keep us posted on when your surgery is going to be. Seeing how you will most likely have your surgery before me I will be coming to you for allot of help and recipes.Wishing you a speedy surgery and recovery.
