Got my surgery date PB

I had my surgery on a Friday and wasn't released until Monday morning.  I tried to leave Sunday, but Dr. Taller said no and I had no complications.   The reason for the stay he said was because most of the time people have to come back to the hospital is because of Dehydration and he wanted me to get one more day of IV in.

Yes, I got something to drink on Saturday.  They give you apple juice, cranberry juice, chicken broth, and jello.   Your not really hungry but the hot broth help with the gas stomach pain a little.

What I didn't know, that someone told me later was you can go up to the 12 floor and walk outside on the roof top.  So, if it a nice day, you may want to head up there.

I don't think my whole floor was bariatric but most of them are.

They offer you exercise class during the day, while you are there.   They seem very helpful in getting you moving.

The nurses are great, they tended to my every need.  Except they do want you to start fending for yourself by the second day.   Take yourself to the bathroom, get in and out of bed by yourself.

Yes, they weigh you pre op. They weigh you the day before surgery and right before surgery again.  If you can try to lose some but you will lose that weight on the pre op diet.  You can only drink fluid the day before surgery, no food.  I loss 5 pounds before weighing in.

I am not sure about canceling your surgery over the weight, they say they will but I have never heard of it happening.

I hope all this helps.

Hi Ann,
Thank you for your last post. It is nice to know how things will be when you get to the hospital. How are you doing at home now?
I look forward to following your progress.

Things are great.  It was hard at the begininning, wrapping my head around how much I can eat.   But know, I love eating just a little.  I love putting a spoon full or 2 on my plate of a couple of items and that is it.

I do work out at least 3 days a week, but the weight is coming off.  I don't even track my food yet.   I do get my protein in but that is all I track.  I figure, I will track once the weight loss stalls.

I will also follow your progress.   I love reading about how people have loss and what size they are wearing now.   It is exciting.
