Need WLS Friendly PCP at Beaver Medical Group in Redlands or Highland
I had RNY 12-04-2009 and I am doing great. But the PCP I currently have will not order any labs except for a cbc and thyroid panel. I am hypothyroid. I tried to explain that I need a full panel and even gave him a list of what I needed. He said that was a waste of money and he wouldn't do it. I also asked for a baseline bone density test because I am 58 and also 1 yr post WLS. He also denied that and said he wouldn't order one until I am over 60. I am beyond upset with him and I don't know what to do. I feel like he will not ever change his mind and my health is at stake here. I am healthy and have had no complications from my RNY, but I want to keep it that way.
Do any of you have a WLS friendly PCP at Beaver Med Group that you trust and is willing to order the needed labs and other things that we need post WLS? I want to change PCP's but I don't know who to change to. I feel like it would be a stab in the dark unless I get a personal recommendation.
Thanks everyone in advance for your advice. Have a wonderful day!!!

Feb. 1, 2011 is the next support group in Redlands that I attend. There are many Beaver group members there who are either preop or post op. I'd suggest attending and you'll likely finbd an asnwer to your question. DAVE

Hi Jacque!
I see Dr. Paul Whiteside. He's up on Church st off of Boulder. There's rarely ever a waiting period to see him, his PA is awesome (Linda Dougherty sp) His nurse(s) are on top of stuff all the time. They will work you in to see Linda Dougherty and then she usually ducks out for a consult with Dr. Whiteside to double check.
I have a few friends that have had RNY and they love him as well. They always have lab sheets ready for me to pick up, the details have been ironed out with every issue I have ever had and I just can't say enough good about them.
So...yep, there's who I would recommend :)
