Need to get back on the program....
The last few years I have let myself go due to my sister being sick. I have gained at least 30 lbs. (don't know for sure how much since I refuse to get on the scale). She passed away on May and I need to get back to the program. What is easiest? Getting back tio the protein drinks for a week or 2? Some good advise and support is needed. Thanks in advance.
Evening Sherri...first off, let me offer my condolences on the loss of your sister. And Congratulations are wanting to get back on track. I needed to get there also after the holidays so I started out by using the 5DPT (http://www.5daypouchtest.com/). This helped me get away from the carbs and grazing I had picked up. Now I'm back to getting in protein, protein, protein...going back to the basics and remembering that 64oz of water plays a huge part in staying on track.
Wish you well and hope you keep us informed on your progress ^_^

Sherri,
I am so sorry to hear about your sister's passing. Nancy offered great advice and I agree with her 100% one other thing to consider if you haven't is a visit with the psych who saw you pre-op to assist with the head part. How often do we tell ourselves, they operate on our stomach's and not our head. I think sometimes the head causes more problems.
One thing's for sure, you are not alone on your journey. I too need to reel it in and get this last 40 lbs off and it's tough. I won't stop but it's tough. Hey we are all in this together. Keep posting and I hope maybe you can make it to our luncheon on Sat. Bebaugh and others come up from Modesto, so maybe you can carpool.
I wish you all the best and congrats for coming back and sticking with it. Support is a very powerful tool, we just have to use it.
Hugs,
Barb

I am right there with you. Working nights for the past 1.5 years has wreaked havoc on my metabolism. I am kicking it into gear with exercise and gaining healthy habits before I start my new job (back on nights though). I am sticking to 30 min of exercise daily, minimum. No flaking allowed. I have done it even being sick this week. Next week, I am going to work on cutting the carbs out. I feel so much better on protein. Just have to do it!
I know I went OFF my diet since October 18th and gained a whopping 21lbs. For me getting back on track. I CLEANED my house of ALL "trigger" foods and carbs. Oh how I miss them (that's the fat girl typing, sorry). Since the 3rd I do a protein shake for breakfast (or today I had sausage & cheese). Then some apples for snack. For lunch it's been protein and vegetable. Snack is a clementine to go with my iron. For dinner it's more protein and vegetables.
I personally can't do the 5 day pouch and think of it just as another "fad" diet. I know I need protein and veggies to feel full and when I do I am. It is HARD because I'm detoxing and my body wants carbs and also my HEAD is so hungry and wants sugar sugar!!

I'm not blaming this on a women ( when I got together with my current girl ) 5 months ago I started eating what she ate..I workout 2 hours a day...I run 3-6 miles a day lift weights 45-60 minutes. I have gained 13 pounds in the last 5 months.Only God knows how much I would weigh if I did not workout... I feel like such a failure.
Hi Sherri, I'm so sorry for your loss...man, so much of my eating, and I have a feeling that this is an issue for more than just myself, has to do with our emotions. I think you've gotten some great feedback and I'm right there with you. I'm 3 years out, never got to goal, and then gained about 25 pounds, but I'm getting back on track. Wow, talk about it being a "head thing". Anyhow, we're all in this eating thing together, you know what I mean? Hang in there, and keep coming here, we're all here to support each other...xo Kim
