Today is My 2-Year Surgiversary!
Two years ago today I began living. I had made the decision to have RNY and to begin a journey to better health and little did I know at that time that I would make such wonderful friends on this life changing event as well. I've meet so many wonderful OH people, from all over our huge state. Our Nor Cal Loser's group is like my 2nd family and I am honored to be friends with them all because each of them inspire me so much. I've "met" fantastic on-line inspirational folks and will cherish an opportunity one day to meet them in person.
I've lost 130 lbs and would like to lose an additional 40 lbs and I know what I have to do to make that goal. I have plateaued and my labs for the last year have been spot-on perfect. No more diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obnoxious snoring and my asthma is under control. I can fit into an airline seat with room to spare, no seatbelt extender and can use a meal tray now without everything sliding the other way. Most of the time I feel like the energizer bunny and can keep going and going and going. I can shop in all stores with no worries and can now keep up with my long legged husband when we hike or walk around without being winded or physically exhausted.
I'm blessed with the most supportive husband (who rarely misses a support group meeting or a Nor Cal Loser's lunch) and family. I embrace all the positives in my life and deal with the negatives in a much healthier way now. I am no longer ashamed to look in the mirror and actually appreciate the hard work that the person staring back at me has done to get healthy! I want to shout from the rooftop on what a fantastic difference my WLS has made in my life. I am committed to maintaining my weight loss and to get to goal. I will continue to pay it forward and offer support and empathy to anyone who is in need.
This has been a fantastic 2 years and I thank all those who have been my partners on this incredible journey. Here's to many more years to come, and I know we'll all get there together.
Hugs and huge thanks,
Barb
