In the first 3 weeks out from surgery, the smell of coffee literly made me gag.  Lately, at night this past week, I have been craving some coffee really bad.  It was never an everyday I have to have some, maybe once a during the week and the weekends in the morning type of relationship.  We had bought a Kuerig coffee maker for Christmas in 2009 and enjoy having the fresh cup of coffee when we want it.  Soooo, I have an email out to the RN in charge of my comliant keister, but am wondering how soon can we have coffee?  Must it be decaf?  I bought some silk creamer yesterday in the hopes I would get the go ahead.  Any suggestions to make it a little more friendly to my 1 month old pouch?

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hey there,

I was  at least a coffee a day kind of girl before surgery. It was at least 2 months before I had one, and at that I would have a sip or 2 and I would be done. It took about 8 months before I could finish a coffee. There is no reason why you can't have one now. They prefer decaf because of the dehydrating effect the caffeine can have on you. I don't do decaf, and never have. I think in the beginning for me, I just wanted to smell the brewed coffee more then drink it. Good luck. Are you going to be at the meeting on Saturday? If so, I will see you there.

Thank you, Anne did email me back and gave me the go ahead.  Like you I got 2 sips down and tossed the rest.  I guess I cured my craving for the time being LOL.  And yes I will be at the meeting, I am excited over the progress I have made since you last saw me!  It feels so good to see that scale keep going down and I know I will hit a plateau eventually.  Have a great day!
