Oh I forgot to mention in my last post. I graduated July 27th and my surgery was on 12/29/10, most of my classmates procedures are in January and February 2011.

Congrats on getting a date!! I hope it goes by quickly for you! I don't know how everyone else's classes were, but mine kind of suck. I 'm not getting what I hoped out of it. There are some people that just won't stop talking about themselves for the entire classes, and there's isn't a lot of control or leadership going on to stop them. Fortunately, I have wonderful people here to learn from!

Dr. Helmuth Billy In Ventura is an authorized contracted surgeon with Kaiser. I used him..I finished options classes in Oct, had consult in Nov and Surgery Dec 11th..... A friend of mine had her consult with him today and her surgery is Feb 15th......I was set up for Pac Bar also and I was not wanting to wait so I searched out other great surgeons and found this one and he was absolutely wonderful....You might ask your kaiser group if he is open to you as well....Maybe you will get in before the time frame you have been given by Pac Bar....

Do you get approval from the actual bariatric team that heads the Options classes , or from like..member services or something? Kaiser confuses me with how to get things done. I am so glad I have all of you knowledgeable people!

I got my approveal from the RN Case Manager for the bariatric program with Kaiser.....I would talk with your person and see what they say......

Hello acbbrown,

I am here in Bakersfield and will be done with my Options class on the 25th. We were told today we would definately be having our surgeries here in B-town. Which, is good because I don't have to go all the way down to SD. We were also told today if we get all our labs, ekg's, and the rest of our stuff done by the 25th, we could possibly be having wls in Feb, which, I am so excited! I really hope you won't have to wait 6 moths to get yours.

Wow that's amazing! I go back and forth - I want it now to I need time to prepare. Depends on the day where I am. I hope it's not 6 months though, that'd be a killer.

I did the Options at the Fontana center and my last day was Dec 3rd. We had the option of going to Crown, Pacific or Dr Fadorka at st B's. We were told pacific would be around June, Crown in May and Dr Fadorka was 3 weeks out after consult but he is very very strict as to who he will perform surgery. I rreally wanted VSG so I was going with Pacific and Dr Taller but I was impatient so I said I would do the RNY at crown. I had signed the interest list with Fadorka but never though I would get chosen. Low and behold I was..was told I would have surgery sometime in Feb. Now I'm not sure which surgery I want and am waiting for my consult. Sorry i am rambling now. Hope this helps..

I started my Options class in 2/10 and finished in 4/10. I then took time to see if I could loose the weight before I had the surgery. I did not loose the weight and actually gained 10 lbs. In December 2010 I decided I wanted the Sleeve and proceded to call Pacific Bariatric to schedule appointments with the Psych, Internist and Surgeon. I saw them all on Jan. 11, 2011 and just got my surgery date of March 21st.
