Dr. Dutta Fremont Kaiser

Hi everyone.  I am new here and found this site quite by accident.  I did my orientation at Fremont Kaiser in October 2010 and have my first consultation with Dr. Chu on 1/10.  I am so looking forward to this journey, I have waited a long time to make up my mind, now I can't wait.  I would love to hear from others about their journeys.

Hi Cathyrn...so glad you found this group and posted!  Didn't pick up where you are but since you are going to Fremont, you must be in the general Northern California area.  Please find Barb's posting regarding our Northern Calif luncheon being held in Concord on Jan 15th.  It's a great time and a great way to get your feet wet..meet a bunch of us who are either pre-op or post-op and get answers.  I hope you will join us!

Hi Michelle...thank you for your recommendation of Dr. Chu.  I have been "lurking" on this forum non-stop since finding it.  I am trying to educate myself on the surgery before my 1st visit with Dr. Chu so that I am able to ask somewhat intelligent questions.  All the posts here are so informative for a newcomer with answers to questions one would not know to ask.  Thanks to all the post-ops!!

  I had my surgery with Dr. Dutta and I loved him!  I was completely comfortable with him from my first meeting with him.  He answered all of my questions, and always asked me if I had any other questions etc.  The time frame all depends on your situation.  I went to my consult already at goal weight, which I was told they rarely see, and so my total time from the first orientation to my surgery was 5 months.  I didn't have to take any classes, I went to my consult at goal, went to my psych eval 3 weeks later, and then sat and waited for my date.  I love the people in Fremont, they are so nice and never make you feel ashamed for being heavy etc.  I would do this again in a second.  :-)
