I just had my consultation with my surgeon and my physiological on Tues, They said I was a perfect candidate and should do really well after surgery. However they are so booked up that I will not get my surgery till March. I know I should be happy but March sounds so far away. I have worked so hard to get this far and expected that once I saw the surgeon it would only be a matter of weeks not months. Is it normal to have to wait so long? I have Kaiser for insurance and my doctors name is Rumsey.Has anyone else used him?

Just be happy you will get a date. Atleast you know the waiting is over.

But don't be scared to call the person the schedules the surgerys, and call them often. Make it a daily thing. That way they will remember your name if someone needs to cancel. And be ready.

It took me almost 6 months to get my date, so I guess I had to wait just as long.

Good Luck

I know it is frustrating to have to wait that long, by now you are ready to have the surgery and get on with life. Spend your free time learning all you can about the surgery you plan on having. Be prepared for when you come home from the hospital and like Lu said call them often to see if they have a cancellation. Good Luck!

Great you have a date... but I would ask to be on the surgeon's cancellation list. People do cancel during the holiday's and goodness forbid.. gain weight so they cancel. If your surgery is with a doctor *****quires you to loose weight before hand, then keep doing that, and stay below the target weight. For instance.. if your surgeon wants you to loose 20 pounds before surgery, keep it off... others might mess up with the holiday's ,you be the star... and we will all keep good thoughts that it might open up for you in say.January!
I took the time to really learn the program... I had to loose 19 (10%)  before surgery...and thankfully was able to email the doctor and ask to be on the cancellation list. I really gave him my story, in SHORT, and it worked!!

Keeping good thoughts for you

Wow your date will be here before you know it. I am so happy for you. My date was even worse then I originally thought, April 4Th. Please request me as a friend and keep me posted on how things went for you. I know we must be sharing many of the same feeling right now. Excitement , nerves and tons of question's running through our heads. I would really appreciate it if you could give me a run down of what to expect. Best of luck to you, I will be thinking you and sending good thoughts your way on March 7.
