Which insurance companies in So.Ca. are covering T.T.'s and I need some rec. for plastic...
I currently have an H.M.O and this is "Open Enrollment " for me , for the next 9 days.
I am wondering if I have a better chance of getting coverage full or partial with a P.P.O and if so, which one?
I have a herniated disc and my large panni is contributing to this .
I also need some recommendations for Plastic Surgeons in So. Ca.
Thank you.

Panni surgeries tend to be covered by most insurance companies, BUT--you'll have to provide doctor documentation, photos, etc. that infections, etc. have been an ongoing issue. That's the reason for the panni surgery. Your doctor hopefully has something written up about your back issues and the association with the panni, as another reason for surgery. There is a Dr. Batra in southern CA, board certified plastic surgeon, who works with Kaiser insurance. He's spoken at my support groups more than one time. He has stated that many patients who get the panni are unhappy with the untailored appearance of that surgery. Hence, many patients undergo another procedure to have plastics to make their abdomen appear better. He's stated he's worked out an arrangement with Kaiser to deduct the cost of their panni from his surgical services towards plastic surgery. So you'll likely save $3000 or more from his bill of around $8k. Something is better than nothing. It's rare for any insurance company to be willing to pay for plastic surgery. The panni does remove the wt, but it's not too pretty, and many women object to not having a belly button anymore. DAVE
