Has anyone had their surgery in Richmond Kaiser?
At orientation I was given an appointment with Dr. Park. I called the office the next day and asked if I could please see Dr. Baggs instead. I was told I'd have to wait a month, but that was fine with me as I could work on my weight loss that month. I didn't feel that an appointment right away was critical for me. The idea of surgery was only introduced to me in October by my PCP and I needed time to research my options. I also had my gallbladder removed on November 2nd and went to orientation two weeks later so I was in early recovery from that surgery.

Thanks for all the great information. I will continue to try to lose weight before my orientation and hope that they count that in my goal before surgery. I am so excited for this journey to begin...I'm a little frustrated with my PCP because she said she would send the referral over as soon as I get my lab work and mammogram completed. I e-mailed her after everything was completed and results were in and asked her to please go ahead and send the referral and let me know when she does, I can see that she has read my e-mail but did not confirm that she send the referral. I'm hoping that I can get into orientation next month and get the ball rolling.
Thanks again!

i had my surgery at Kaiser South San Fran...and when i weighed in on my initial lifestyle classes and nutrition class that is the weight they go by...but because my doctor had seen i had lost almost 60lb from my initial referral he pretty much just asked me if i still wanted to do it and to pick a date for my surgery...i had been referred back in august of last year but had and auto accident that had my off my feet so i gained weight but then i went back to work and lost it all plus the extra 30 required for the surgery since i was about 333 at initial consultation...but everyone was great at my campus they knew exactly what they where doing so i would not worry...good luck to u
