Coming here is a good start. Support is one of the most important aspects of trying to lose weight. Surgery can only do so much. It's a kick start so to speak.
Anyway, I would recommend some kind of program. Perhaps Weigh****chers online or at their different facilities. It's inexpensive and still one of the best programs for long term weight loss. There is also a website for weight loss patients that gives great information. The 5 Day Pouch Test which is technically for RNY patients is actually a good way to start any program. Just google 5 Day Pouch Test and it will take you to the website and tell you how to get started on that.
Diet and exercise is key. You've heard it before and it's still the truth. Even WLS patients need to learn about diet and exercise. As we have seen over and over, once the first couple of years pass after WLS, we are all back to where we were before surgery. Without diet and exercise, we gain our weight back. Weight control is a lifelong committment.
Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose to do and come here often for support. This is a truly nice group of people who will help you through this. Nice to meet you, by the way.

Weigh****chers is a great program. 5 years ago I was an avid WW member. I lost 65 lbs in about 1 year. I gained it all back and then some because I stopped exercising and went back to old eating habits. Over the next several years I went back to WW and dropped out several times.
I personally got tired of the WW program and continuing to disappoint myself. I decided to have RNY surgery 7/14/10. I have been successful in my own rite but know that if I don't start exercising again, the weight will come back on again and my stomach will stretch if I decide to stop monitoring my portion control.
My husband on the other hand is still a WW member. In just over 1 year he has lost 55 lbs. Since having my surgery he has cut back on his food intake as well. He takes turns on the Treadmill or Recumbent Bike every other day in the garage for 3+ miles. He and I are about the same weight today, and both are in size XL. There was a time when I was in 3-4xl and he was in a 2-3xl.
Look into the WW program - it works. It also works best if you attend the meetings.
Best of luck to you, but please come back and keep us posted on how you are doing with your weight loss in which ever road you choose. We will all be more than happy to provide you the additional support you need outside of WW.
