Really getting Scared!

I went to do my pre-op labs today and it hit me, that this is really happening on Thursday!  I got scared when I read a post about someone who warned about this surgery after he had it for 6 years?  Am I really ready for this? How long do most of you who have had RNY stay in the hospital?  Has anyone recently had surgery at Alta Bates in Oakland?  I reallly need some support so I would appreciate prayers, it sounds selfish, but I am really nervous and doubting myself now.

Thank you all!

Take a BIG deep breath...release it slowly....you are experiencing perfectly normal emotions!  Your stay in the hospital is totally between you and your doctor...your reaction to anesthesia, your doctors normal procedure, your reaction to the surgery itself....some stay over nite..others stay 2-3 days.  I had some reaction to the anesthesia (sp) but still went home the next day (I'm Kaiser).
Focus on why you wanted this in the beginning...and if you are reading the 'failure' blog forum..STOP!  Instead, click on someone's avatar here in the Cali forum..go read their stories...if you have a local support group and phone numbers..call someone you know.  If you don't..PM ME!!

It is always scary to take a leap of faith...and do something momentus for yourself.  Keep your goal in front of you...and remind yourself constantly WHY you started this journey way back when.  We are never ready for 'change'...but embrace it!  There is a 'new you' just waiting to bust out...and YOU are worth it to get healthy and fit...and to enjoy LIFE at its fullest ^_^

You will do fantastic....and if by some small iota of chance you have a rough beginning?  You will still work thru it..with love and support from all here and the Nor Cali Lunch group...we ARE here for you!!
Keep us posted...and PM me if you want someone to talk to...
Hugs

I couldn't have typed anything better than Nancy did.  You're feelings are perfectly normal.  Just one luncheon with the Nor Cal Loser's group and you'll know this will be an incredible journey to better health and living life.  Our logo is butterflies flying free, and you will!!!

Please know we're here for you with support and friendship and just a phone call or PM away.

Hugs and friendship,
Barb

I have to agree with Nancy and Barb. They are so very wise and caring! I do want to tell you that the surgery is done differently than is was done 6 years ago. They have really perfected it. And it is not selfish to ask for prayers and support. It is smart to ask for it. That is what we are here for. Just think once they put you to sleep you will stop worrying! LOL I was in the hospital for 2 nights and went home the 3rd morning. But it is up to your doctor.

You hang in there and you are in my prayers and thoughts. Please keep us posted!

Oh spend some time looking in the Before and After Gallery it will keep you motivated

All you women are wonderful and live close to me so I somehow feel safe.  I so much love everything each one of you said.  My husband I don't think understands the life changing surgery I am about to undergo.  I do need to remember why I made this decision almost 2 years ago and started this process. I could not wait for my surgery date to arrive, but now that it is here, I am second guessing myself.

At noon I will be drinking some magnesium citrate (yum) and be on clear liquids until tonight when I start fasting.  This is really happening.

Thank you all for your support and I will most definetely see you at one of the luncheons.

Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow. You will do fine. Just remember to take it easy, walk and sip. Keep us updated on how you are doing post op.
