I just learned some information for those of us in the Kaiser OPTIONS program Harbor City. The new doctor is Dr Mun and is due to arrive at the end of December this year. Harbor City has stopped all referrals from other Kaiser facilities for bariatric surgery in order to clear up the backlog of Harbor City members' surgeries first.

As of today, there is a 4 month wait list for surgery with Harbor City. The new surgeon's arrival will move surgeries up and with that, the surgeries should move up by one month approximately.

Right now the approximate wait time to see the surgeon for conference is about 12 weeks. So, if you are part of the Harbor City Kaiser program you will have plenty of time to keep taking off weight and  to get very healthy for surgery.

You will be given the option of having surgery at Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego but all 6 month follow-ups will have to take there. The other option is going to Crown in Riverside, but they only perform the RNY and again, follow-ups must take place there.

If you are thinking of visiting either facility, please check THAT facility for their qualifications, such as attending a seminar, any extra tests needed, etc.

Crown does RNY, Realize band, and has started the sleeve wt loss surgery.  I'm a Kaiser patient too.  I took my wife to Harbor City to get a revision from a 1980 gastric bypass that had major issues.  Her surgery got cancelled 3 times, due to lame excuses, and I had the surgery admistrator write a letter in regards to Harbor Cities no wanting to perform the revision. She has surgery with Crwon also.  I had 6 months of follow ups with Crown, along with visits with the Bariatric follow up doctors within Kaiser.  Dr. Suh of Crown is a very qualified surgeon to do these surgeries, and his seminars and support groups are generally always filled to capacity. Hi there! I had surgery with Pacific Bariatrics and I never had to go back there for follow-ups.  They have a place in Anaheim at a hotel.  they use a conference room is what they use and they do their seminars there too.  It has been very convenient.
