Surgery almost here 9/30

Well I am down to the final week. I had my pre op appointment and they almost put it off, as I was let go of my job on 9/17 (my birthday) and under a lot of stress.  I have stoped smoking, given up cafeine and been on pre op diet for several months now. I talked to the therapist and she said I could proceed.

I am anxious, scared and excited all at the same time.  Am I doing the right thing?  I have heard it is common to have all these feelings prior to surgery.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Kim -

What you are going through is very normal.  The last week or two is always very emotional.  My only advice is to keep yourself very busy during the next week.  If you can do some things you have been wanting to do but just didn't have the time to do it.  It will help to keep your mind off your surgery.

Good luck!

Good luck on your surgery. I have emotions going on as well, but know its nerves. My surgery is on Monday and I am just keeping myself busy.

Sorry for the job loss. I know how you feel. I lost mine in Dec of last year and have been having a hard time finding anything. God will take care of us. Im sure of this.

God Bless and Good Luck!!

Hey Roberta....thinking about you all week....and can totally empathize with your emotions.  You have such a positive attitude...you'll breeze thru the surgery!  Hopefully James will call someone in the Monday nite group so we  can get an update?  Also, you've got a surgery twin..hopefully you two will share a room after surgery...that would be so cool.  And of course, we'll see you Wednesday nite for our weekly walk, right?  LOL  Just Kidding!  Can't wait to move on over to make room on the Loser's Bench for ya!

I am so sorry about losing your job.  Your feelings are perfectly normal, I called it being nervously excited.  You are about to start a new beginning on a journey to a healthier you and a new job too.  The same thing happened to me.  I was scheduled for surgery Jan 8th and found out on Dec 15th that I would be losing my job at the end of the following June, so I had to stress about it for 6 months, recover from surgery and find a new job.  As Roberta said, God takes care of you and I'm proof!  I am now in a job that I totall love and I'm 130lbs less!!!  I totally subscribe to the saying, things happen for a reason.  We don't always know and understand it at the time, but there is a master plan!

Please hang in there, keep your eye on the prize and come here and to the Nor Cal Luncheon's for lots of friendship and support, we're with you ALL the way.

Hugs and prayers coming your way.

Barb

What a horrible thing to have to go through on your birthday. I am so sorry.

Like everyone else has said all the things you are feeling is normal. Just remember you are going to be so much healthier after this. Now don't be surpirsed when you go through some buyer's remorse. We all go through that too. Hang it there (as if you have any choice LOL) You will make it through and be so glad you did! Good Luc****ep us posted!

Karin~
I just had my surgery on 9/15 and as the others have said it is perfectly normal to feel nervous. Just keep yourself busy and the day will be here before you can blink an eye. I wish you the very best surgery with no complications. Let us know how you are doing when you can.
