Hair Loss
Well, it has been 14 mos. since surgery and I am still losing hair. I take 5000 mg of Biotin a day and my surgeon has told me this is enough. I get my protein in, I drink all my water and yet I am still losing hair - HMMMMM
I have seen some growth which is a positive sign, but I have never had my hair this thin. My biggest concern is that I am scheduled to have a hernia repaired on 10/25 and then how much more hair am I going to lose? My daughter has told me to get hair extensions so it looks fuller and all I can think of is how tangled will it be/get. What happens if I brush/comb through it and it comes off in the middle of a Seminar (HILARIOUS), and then there is the "Just one more thing I need to take care of".
Do any of you take more than 5000 mg of Biotin, or have you found another product to help with your hair loss? I don't have bald patches or anything like that, but my goodness, the amount of hair I take out of the shower every morning you would think I was going bald.
Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Hello!
A nurse in my surgeons office told me to wash my hair with biotin shampoo ( i buy mine at vitamin world) and use a tea tree oil conditioner
Im only 3 months out ( almost) but really started losing hair last month, this shampoo combo has slowed it down, at least it seems so to me, I used to come out of the shower looking like chewbacca! LOL
I guess anything is worth a try, good luck!!

Thanks Ladies,
I think I am going to buy me some biotene infused shampoo. As for the olive oil conditioner, I have tried the olive oil stuff and my hair is oily on it's own, the olive oil stuff makes it really gross.
As for my Iron, all my blood work comes back great. But what the heck, another iron pill can't hurt. I'll check with my doc first.
Elizabeth - My surgery is a 1 day surgery with 2 days in the hospital. My biggest concern is that something will go wrong as it did with my gallbladder. The surgeon doing my hernia is in the same medical office as the surgeon that did my gallbladder and nicked my liver requiring a 30 day hospital stay, feeding tube, etc.. I have notified the hospital, doctors office staff and the new surgeon no to let the other surgeon anywhere near me during surgery. If he happens to be the dr on call and has to make rounds then that is ok, just keep away from me with a surgical tool.
Unfortunately today I have a horrible cough with raspy throat which is just putting much pressure on my hernia and I need to get it under control quickly before I end up going in for emergency surgery. This really hurts when I cough. The hernia is very close to my breast bone.
