Hello Everyone!

Today I received a call from Fremond Bariatrics saying that they have scheduled me an appointment to come in and meet Dr. Dutta and the nutritionist on September 29th!  I am so excited yet so nervous all at the same time!  I am so excited because I was hoping after listening to Dr. Dutta speak at the orientation that I would end up with him as my surgeon!  I am nervous because I was really hoping to have my ten percent off (30lbs) by the time I met the surgeon because I know that will speed up the process as far as me receiving my surgery date but unfortunately I do not think that I can lost 30lbs in two week!  Well I guess if I get my butt exercising there is a possibility to come close!  Please everyone put in your input as to what helped you get your ten percent off fast?!  Hope to hear from everyone soon :)

I'm curious. What happened with Richmond, and since you were hoping for surgery in May or June, what happened to slow you down so much? I have Dr. Chu in Fremont, and had some unrelated health issues that derailed me for about a month, but I'm hoping I'm back on track now.
Dr. Dutta spoke at my orientation too, but when I called to schedule my appointment and they asked me if I had a physician preference, I told them I wanted to see whoever had the most experience with the sleeve. That's when I got Dr. Chu, and she seems great, too.
Good luck on your journey...

Nita,

I actually was going thru Kaiser Richmond and I just really did not have a good experience with some of the people that worked there. I also basically backed out of having the surgery because I was scared and didnt know if it was really for me but after a long time thinking about it I know that this is what I want and thats why I am going after it again :)

Congratulations! You will soon be on your way. I don't think I would try to lose 30 lbs in 2 weeks though. I would just start following the diet the doctors put you on for your WLS and walk. You will get there. Being nervous is normal. You will go through every emotion before, during, and after this process. Good Luck!

Congradulations on the call from Fremont.

You are going to love Dr Dutta, he was the surgeon that spoke at my orientation!
My suggestion... pull out the 1200 diet in the binder, meaning, use it, that is your best bet to loosing the weight. If you stick to it, you will drop .
I am sure you have lost some already, but be realistic... do your best, he will give you your target weight when you meet him. They will weigh you before you meet the doc or nutritionist. You see one or the other depending upon how things go. You were weighed at Orientation, so I am sure you have lost since then. From now on, any apt you have there, they weigh you. So so not wear your heaviest pants, etc, and figure out a weigh in outfit. I did not even think I would be weighed when I met for my psych evaluation, and wore the blinking wrong thing, What I had on actually weighed 4 pounds extra, It is a Weigh****^^%$ trick... figure out what to wear, and weigh in wearing that. I am all about giving myself steps forward, and the scale moving backwards freaked me out. Oh they say... it doesen't matter, but they go by the numbers when it comes to getting you on the surgery list.
Read your binder like it is a blble, know it inside and out.  I am going through it again, every time I read it, I learn more. I actually have read it about 6 times.

Drink all your water... do the 1,200 calorie diet, you will do fine.

I had Dr Chu in fremont and loved everyone at fremont.  excellent experience there.

diet:  I did 1200 calories but i limited it to protein and vegies.  NO BREAD, NO RICE, NO PASTA, NO POTATOES.  NO SODA AND NO SUGAR DRINKS OR DESSERTS. (EDIT- i did do desserts but not high sugar.  my favorite was a crepe found in the fresh vegies/fruit area of the supermarket with sugar free whip cream and a few blue berries...total of 60-70 calories)  I also used Nutritiondata.com to track my intake.

100 calories of protein and vegies is much more filling than 100 calories of bread
for snacks i did cheese, laughing cow wedge on an akmak cracker (the ONLY grain product i ate...even used them to make a sandwich)
For bread or tacos I used long romaine leaves.
No off the shelf yogurts as they are low iN protein and hi sugar.  I got the ones you have to search for, greek yogurt  has 15 grams of protein for 80 calories.  i then added vanilla and splenda and 2 tbs of frozen blue berries.  I had my 20lbs off very quickly and from orientation to my surgery was 4 mos.

good luck!
