Good Morning Manic Monday
Yap thats right the weekend is over so get your self up and start the week. Back to the grind and start the count down for the up coming weekend. This week I work, after today, friday and then I am off the until Saturday The 25th. I took 2 days off and end up with a week off. You got to love the furlough. LOL Make me think hard about working friday.
So the county gave us furlough, and I was thinking I should get me a sign that says "County Employee, on furlough, PLEASE HELP" and going and standing at the off ramp right close by the main HR build. What do you think would happen? I sat at a off ramp, waiting for the light to change and watch this guy clean up. I bet in the few moments he made 20 bucks, for 2 minutes of "work" I need that job. Now get me wrong, I am overjoyed at having a job, and dang, he is make more money an hour then me.
DId you see on the new this morning the new school in LA. It looks like some 5 star Hotel, I would love to see that school at the end of the school year. They put tons of money into it for the kids to tear up. Smart use of hard to find money.
Barb..........I think that is cool that you are taking the time to injoy the holidays when that are here. I just need to know when day should I be there, and I like bright colored paper, so remember that when you wrap mine. :-D Hey, do you have green beans that you grow? I want to know how you cooked them. I have 2 pounds I need to do something with.
Richelle...........Hope they are able to find what is causing you the pain. Have you tried getting a message? It might help the area relax and in turn, help with the pain. If you tell them when you are there, they can work the area and it might help.
Elizabeth..........I have been working for the county 20 years, and in all that time, i think that was the scaryest time I have had, so even thought it was scary, I am not going to worry about. Just will keep in mind, as I always do, where I work, and why they are there.
Steph..........DO NOT OVER WORK YOUR SELF!! You need to take care of yourself and as you all ways tell me, If I have to come and kick some a$$ you will not be happy. lol Right now with the time change coming up fast, I get to work, its dark, I leave work, its dark. I don't think there is a sun right now. I miss it.
Susan.........how did the paint shopping go? did you find that just right color? I go with off white and BAM! call it done. Now in my room, I add color, but that is only on one wall, and its kinda of a blue/green color, and I love it!
Eileen............I want a lazy day, can I come and stay with your for a few days and learn how to take it easy? I always have things planned and wish sometimes that I would stop doing that to myself and have a "day OFF" I miss my ME TIME.
OK time to jump in the shower and start my day. I wish you all a great day. And remember. ITS MONDAY!!!!
Lusty Lu
Lu yes, we grow green beans and what I do if you don't want to use them all is to First clean them and cut them, then blanche them in scalding water for about 4 minutes. Then portion them out into sizes that you will use, put them into zip loc bags and freeze them. To prepare them after they've been frozen I usually steam them in my vegge steamer or in the microwave. I will generally add butter/margarine and sometimes some mushrooms, peppers, onions or sliced almonds and almost always some garlic or lemon pepper.
Hope that helps. Bon appitite!
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Barb
It is a beautiful morning here in the Central Valley. It is supposed to be 86 today. I sure can't complain about that!
Lu, my husband used to work in the ER at San Bernardino Community Hospital and they actually had off duty police officers as security guards. They wer armed too. That was about 32 years ago. You know you should not have to go to work and be afraid!
Barb, the green beans sounds good. I need to get a steamer for my microwave.
Today brings Gracie's 2nd shots. So we will be heading to the Vet's office. Our appointment is at 9 this morning. Then this afternoon I am meeting Susan (SmurfSmurf) at Dress Barn in A****er to do some shopping. That will be fun! I love to shop.
I hope you guys have a wonderful day. Have some me time Lu, you need to feed your soul!
Just have a moment here. Today is back to my real job as opposed to my at home job. All I can say is that all this freaken work better start paying. It's alot, but I will appreciate it once I bill my personal clients and start to see that money coming in. It will be worth it in the end....I hope!
I have a fabulous green bean recipe. Everytime I make it everyone raves about it. Here it is. Hope you like it.
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans
2 slices bacon
1/2 cup red bell pepper strips
1/2 cup thin onion wedges
1/2 cup whole cashews
In a small bowl, stir together the teriyaki sauce, honey, and butter. Set aside
Fill a bowl with cold water and ice cubes. Set aside
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the lemon juice. Drop in the beans and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until beans are bright green. I undercook them a bit and then do a little stir fry at the end. Drain the beans in a colander and then plunge them into the iced water. Drain again and set aside. In a skillet, cook the bacon until very crispy, crumble and set aside. Saute the bell pepper and onion in the hot bacon fat for 2 minutes. Add the beans, cashews, and bacon to the skillet. Add the teriyaki-honey sauce and toss gently. This is where I finish the cooking of th beans. I like them a little crisper than fully cooked, mushy beans.
That's it. It's really very easy and as I said DELICIOUS.
OK, time to get to work here. Hope everyone has a great "back to work" Monday.
Steph
