It has been a long road but I finally got my surgery date approved 9/30. It has been such a long road, but I know it will be well worth it!  I could really use some support and help from all of you.  I live in Benicia CA and work in Concord.

I quit smoking about 3 months ago, no I am on pre opt diet, no cafeine, no carbs and I am going a bit crazy.  I was drinking muscle milk and just found the light.  But it seems that Atkins drinks have less sugar, and carbs than the MM,

Can anyone suggest a good protein drink and what they eat for there meal of 3-5 ounces of protein and veggies?  I am lost and I have come this far and don't want to fail.

Thank You!

I have started drinking ISOPURE protein drink (orange/pineapple/banana mix). There's 50 gr of protein in 2 scoops ZERO carbs and I mix mine with water, I love it. I have been drinking this for about 2 weeks. I make a batch of about 48 oz and it lasts me all day. I purchased mine online but GNC and The Vitamine Shoppe carries it.

Congratulations!  You should join us for the Norcal Luncheon in Concord on the 18th!!
I use a few different ones.  I purchased the NOW unflavored and I make my own with 1/2 banana, a little vanilla, water and ice or add frozen berries just to flavor.  NOW was the cheapest for the largest amount of protein to calories, carb & sugar ratio.  Its a high quality protein with aminos.
Then I also just went to the vitalady site and got samples of all different kinds.  Then reordered what I liked.  I also have CLICK which is just a coffee protein drink, a bit pricey but quick to shake up and go when I need a kick.  Only 15 g serving though,
I try to get 100 gr protein a day and 32 or so per drink.  Preferably with no sugar/carbs.   Post op it is said that your body only absorbs about 32 gr of protein at a time so I try to waste it going beyond that.
Syntax from vitalady was good but higher in carbs if i remember right,
fast food as i run around alot was limited to Wendys chili or a lettuce wrap jr bacon cheeseburger
KFC grilled breast no skin on a side salad with low fat dressing, taco bell steak taco ate with a fork so i didnt eat the tortilla with pinto and cheese (no sauce for me), Jack chicken fajita again ate with a fork no pita or denver bowl with no hash browns.
Otherwise at home Im all about a grilled steak or chicken breast with steamed veggies (steamer bags for the micro are awesome)
snacks were akmak crackers with laughing cow wedge, cottage cheese, greek yougurt doctored up with vanilla and splenda, and lunchmeat rolled with some gouda cheese.,

Good luck and we are making room on the losers bench!

Wahoooo another Bay Area person!!! :)

Pure Protein Shake's are AWESOME!!! The Frosty Chocolate is my favorite so far!! The cans are available at Trader Joe's. The 21g Protein Shakes are $1.99/can and the 35g Protein Shakes are $2.29/can!

I love them love them love them. TJ's also sells the Pure Protein Bars with 31g Protein for $1.99/bar. The San Mateo TJ's at Hillsdale sell the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bar flavors. I prefer the Peanut Butter one over the chocolate, but they're pretty tasty!

Good luck to you!
