Good Morning One and ALL
Good Morning Calif.......
I told you all yesterday that we are now going to start furlouhg days. When I got to work yesterday, and started looking for my notice about the change, I could not find one. Hmmmm? So I asked, and was told I needed to speak to my boss. Why? what is going on? No one would tell me, so I went to the nearest phone, and call my boss at home, at 7 am. He was sleeping when I called. Ohh so sorry... NOT! I asked him what was going on, and he said "I told them to tell the Medical Unit Clerks, that we would talk, so you all had a word in what days you had off." So I told him what they are doing, which was nothing. Long and short, we can pick missing 12 hours of pay, a pay period, or 8. Duh....I don't want to lose any pay, why would I pick 12 hours over 8?? But I guess, in the long run, it was very nice of them. I don't think any of us picked the 12 hours. The four of us there yesterday all picked the 8 hours. In the end it was all good.
Barb..........I love working on the yards, its so much fun. And to see your work, first hand, start taking root and grown, makes you fill like "a hard job done great" Do we get pictures when youa are down?
Elizabeth..........Congrats on 34 year anniversary. WOW, 34 years. I guess that should Double Congrats!! We have nurses here at work, that also count that money as being in the bank, one wanted to go to the union because she didn't get her ALL of her over time?? I told her, that only 80 hours a pay period are promised. She went on about house payment, car note....bluh bluh bluh, I looked her right in the eyes and told her she was the fool, never over spend....but but but..but nothing, over time is NOT a promise. Sorry!
Steph.......I guess I should tell you that we might need to change our vac, my boss wants to change our days off also, "for the good of the company" ...
Just kidding...calm down...I will be there at 7:54 giving you 6 minutes to get in and buckle up before I slam my foot on the gas. 6 days in counting. By this time next week, we will be pasted out with smiles on our faces. LOL
Gus..........how is everyone? Good to see ya around from time to time.
Susan.........I love yard sales, working or shopping. They are so much fun, just hate having to do all the work ahead of time to get the stuff together. To much work. lol
OK time for coffee and for the shower. I wish you all a great day.

Good Morning Lu and Cali Friends,
So glad everything worked out well with your furlough days Lu. That communication thing is SO important! LOL
I will try to take pics of the yards and post them. We still have quite a bit to do but it is gratifying to see the change little by little.
Today more of the same, we'll be out in the front yard with more planting.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Hugs,
Barb

Oh ha ha funny Miss Luana......NOT. Sheeeiiiitttttt, don't give a girl a heart attack like that. Phew!!! I'll forgive you because you are giving me 6 minutes to get in the car next week. I think you only gave me 3 minutes last year. I'm guessing that you are making the 3 minute exception this year because you know I'm getting older and slower. You are such a giver!!!!
So today I have to go to my sister's for my niece's 14th birthday. I really don't want to go, I mean really don't want to. When my sister has these "shindigs" at her house she invites me and my son and then everyone from her husband's family and there are alot of them. Sorry to say, but they are all pretty stuck up people and to be honest, I have nothing in common with them.
I asked my sister yesterday what time she wanted me to come over and she says, anytime you want. Come early. So my next question was, well what time do you plan on serving food. She tells me, oh we'll probably start cooking the salmon on the grill about 3:00. Well, first off, I hate salmon. It's the one fish I really really do not like. But ok, that's ok. The meal is not about me. However the time, she says she'll start cooking at 3PM which means probably closer to 4PM. No way am I staying there that late. I have laundry I have to do before work tomorrow. Plus I'm not driving home so late. So, I shall go, make an appearance and be gone by probably 3 or 4 o'clock.
And on that note I need to go make some coffee, have some breakfast and get ready for the birthday extravaganza. I'd rather just do nothing today, to be totally honest. Hope everyone else has a great day today.

Good morning Lusty Lu and Cali Board.
Don't you just love the bosses when they don't tell you anything. In the Post Office the left hand never knew what the right hand was doing.
This morning we went to Marie Calendar's for breakfast to celebrate our 34th anniversary. This evening my DH is going to BBQ steak. His steaks taste so much better than anything we can get around here. He also gave me a beautiful flower arrangement last night. He is so sweet.
Steph, sorry you have to go to the party. I know I hate going to places where I don't know anyone and have nothing in common with them.
Gus it was good to see you again. How is the baby.
Barb have a good day working in the yard.
Susan have fun cleaning. LOL I hate doing that too!
Everyone else have a great California day!

Elizabeth, just wanted to wish you a very Happy Anniversary. 34 years...WOW. In this day and age that is something to truly be proud of. You are so lucky to have found your soul mate and been blessed with all these years together. I shall raise my glass and toast you both to another loving 34 years and then some.

Hey there everyone....We're doing great and looking forwards to seeing Alanis grow up and cherish every moment.
I'm almost 5 years out and it's a battle to keep the weight off....Ughhh...My honeymoon is long gone...RNY is not the easy way out..one has to continue to eat right, EXERCISE, and change one's lifestyle. I think I've adapted to the new lifestyle, it's just hard to stay away from carbs! LOL

Hi Gus, I can totally relate as I am 3 years out. Your are sooooooo right that RNY is not the easy way out. WLS is a tool as we have been told over and over again. However, that tool only gave us a good start. Now it is up to us to eat healthy, exercise and create a healhty and happy lifestyle. Istruggle most with carbs and I have to incorporate more exercise into my daily lifestyle. Alanis sounds wonderful. I remember when my boys (now 29 and almost 31) were little. They grow very fast; therefore, it is really important to watch and help her grow and cherish each moment. Enjoy your week. Hugs

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they
ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

Hi all,
I am having a mellow Sunday, well as mellow as things can be right now. It's amazing how much paperwork a person needs to have their life function. It's taking me forever to go through all my mom's files. I have so many more phone calls to make in regards to managing her estate. I will probably have to take off work tomorrow to spend some quality time at the DMV transferring the title of her Cadillac over to me and then I'll go to my care insurance company to put the car under my coverage. I had using a vacation day to do this.
Gus, I hear you on the carbs. I am only a year and a few months out and my inner carb monster is very hungry. It seems like allowing just a few carbs back sets off the carb cravings big time. I am trying to drown myself in only protein and veggies.
Barb, I also love to garden. I didn't think I did until I owned my own home. My attitude towards gardening all changed. I think it's the potential of what can be created that changed me. I haven't had much time this year to do anything but make sure I don't kill the plants I have.
Lu, I hear you on the furlough days. Those of us who work for the legislature were just given salary decreases, but no extra time off. Because we don't belong to a collective barganning unit, the Assembly can do this to us, I shouldn't complain much though because the Assemblymember's have taken the biggest hit with a 17% reduction in their wages. They now make less than City Councilmembers in the big cities.
Elizabeth, congratulations on 34 years of marriage. It's great to see that some marriages do last. I'll be on my 8th next March and I still like hanging out with him!!
I hope to see a lot of you soon next weekend!
