Good Morning Calif....

OMG! One week from today, Steph and I will be GONE!! If I had it my way, I would be picking her up about now, and beating all the traffic. But since the hotel wont let us in the room that early, I guess we will waiting until day light before heading out. I know no matter what time we leave, my fun will start the second I pick Steph up. YEAH!!!

So we got told that our one 8 hours shift is now going to be our furlough day. UGH! The really sad then is, it start this coming week. So I work Sat, Sun, Mon, then I am off Tues, Wed and Thurs. Work Friday and I am off Sat, Sun Mon. I could Call in for Friday (12 hrs) and have a week off. LOL But I wont do that, the 8 hours with out pay, is going hurt. I know I work tons of over time so I shouldn't worry about it, but over time is never a guarantee and can be gone tomorrow. I should never spend thinking I WILL get the over time. So many of the people at work do do that and start crying when it dry's up for a short time.

So what do you have planned for this week? Me, Just working. I hope to get a short run in tonight when I get home. I had a great night sleep so with some luck, I wont be beat when I get home, and will feel up to a short 2 miles run.

I need to get moving here and get me some coffee and jump in the shower.

I wish you all a great day.

Good Morning Lu and Cali Friends,

Lu so sorry to hear about your furlough day, I know what a drag that it.  I will think good thoughts that those are short lived for you and for all that are experiencing them.

We're going to be continuing updating our front yard.  Some of the bushes that are/were there are/were merely sticks with leaves on them as they're really old and outdated.  Ron has been getting the ground prepped and we've bought some plants (my beautiful purple agapantha's called Storm Clouds) and I think today we may buy a few more.  We are keeping the existing front yard laid out as it is with lawn and hedges and trees, but the shrubs really needed replacing.  So it's alot of cutting out and stumping what's there, good exercise that's for sure. I am also putting anything we plant with a drip system to conserve water, which has been fun.  Eventually we will take out some ugly overgrown junipers too and replace them with something a bit more modern and pretty, but that's down the road a little.  The idea is to update on a budget and we're doing the work ourselves and so far we've been successful in the backyard and now the front yard.

That's about what's new in my neck of the woods.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day/weekend and remember to do something nice for yourself.

Hugs,
Barb

Hey Lusty Lu, Barb, and everyone on the Cali Board!

Lu, I am sorry about the furlough days too. You are smart no to rely on the overtime though. Before I retired I worked with people *****lied on that and when it was not available they got so mad, but it is  never a guarantee like you said.

Barb, you need to post some pictures of the new yards. I look at plants and they die so my DH takes care of the yards.

Well not much planned today, tomorrow is our 34th wedding anniversary. I am not sure what we are going to do. Maybe take in a movie and dinner.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

One more week, one more week, one more week....oh my goodness, I don't know if I can wait.  But I'll be waiting for you at 8AM next Saturday and off we go for our annual get away.  Ooooo I can't wait.

So today brings a trip up to Silverwood Lake.  Friends are camping and they are insisting that we come up for the day.  I'm really not in the mood, but we'll go, spend a couple of hours and then be on our way home.  I just don't find sitting around a campsite all weekend fun.  If I go someplace I want to do something other then sitting around.  Like when Mike and I went to Palm Springs we spent time at the pool and then went exploring the city.  We didn't just sit around the entire time.  Oh well, off we will go for a couple of hours and that will be fine.

Then tomorrow is off to my sister's house for my nieces birthday.  The little brat will be 14 years old.  I love her dearly, but I do hate teenagers in general.  She is just so moody and sullen.  Ugh.

And that is my weekend and then Monday is back to work.  Poof, just like that the weekend is over.  Hopefully Mike and I will do something fun this evening maybe....or not.  LOL  OK, time to go get dressed and off to the campground.  Hope everyone has a great day.
