Suggestion for Plateaus
Plateaus Suck! I am 5 weeks post op today and have stalled. I am barely able to eat 600 calories and feel like I don't have a lot of extra energy to up my exercise. I guess that's my problem though. I need to move more. I have my 6 week apt on Thursday cuz my Dr. is out of town next week and I'm nervous that he will be mad that I haven't lost enough. I hate scales! I thought that I wouldn't need to worry once I had the surgery but I'm still full of anxiety when I step on the scale twice a week. EEGAHDS! It seems like I only have 1 good day for every two bad days.....
It is not unusual to have a mini stall right now. Your body is catching up to your weight loss. Make sure you are getting in enough protein. I am 11 months out and I still drink protein shakes, protein hot choco, and eat protien pudding. I can not eat enough to get all my protein in. The more protein you get in the faster your weight loss. Don't worry about what your doc says you are doing the best you can. I bet you have lost more than you think. Hang in there!
I know you're tired...Trying to grab for energy and it just isn't there. You might want to try a small amount of orange, tomato, banana, spinach, or yogurt...All are high in potassium. Also add a small amount of salt to your diet.
The one trick I learned about stalls...Hard physical work. For some reason things like exercise and walking wouldn't release the weight...But doing projects around the house would break my stalls. Cleaning the car, doing windows, cleaning gutters, add your own project...and the weight would drop. Go figure.

Are you getting your vitamins and supplements in okay? It's amazing how that helps.
Also, this is the usual time for a plateau. Don't panic. Just keep doing the right thing and your weight loss will restart when YOUR BODY is ready. You might also want to increase your intake a bit; just to let your system know that you're really not starving. It wouldn't take much, just add a protein bar or another protein shake for a morning or evening snack.
And don't worry about your doctor--everyone loses weight differently. If he makes a negative comment, he's wrong.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am religious about taking my vitamins because I feel like death if I don't take them. Most of my calories are from protein but I definitely could have more. I'll add another shake and see if that helps with my energy. I don't feel like I'm starving but maybe my body/brain thinks I am..... It hurts to try to eat more than I do so maybe the shake will do the trick. With all of the house cleaning and keeping up with 4 teenagers I do you would think that I wouldn't have to add more exercise but apparently I do. Every time I do laundry I have to run up and down stairs to our basement. Being involved in my sons football league uses a lot of energy too. Sometimes I stop and think, Man I am only 5 weeks post op, why am I being so hard on myself and then I read other peoples' success stories and feel like I'm not on schedule. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but there it is. Anyway... I appreciate everyone's help and really appreciate the opportunity to vent here. Talking/typing helps!
