Officially a "pre-op"!!

In 2002 I weighed in at 435 lbs.  Over the years I have lost 115 lbs ON MY OWN.  I have been stuck at this weight of 320 for about 4 years now and I'm tired of it.  I completed my 6 month diet documentation and was approved in late July.  Here starts my journey and I'm super excited!

Today I am officially a pre-op!!  I start my 2 week diet today and on the 24th I will be having my surgery! No idea what time yet but I will find that out on the 11th when the registration nurse calls me.

I thought this was going to be REALLY hard right off the bat.  I got low sodium broth because I was afraid I would feel hungry all the time with this diet.  Well, I'm allowed 4 ounces of fruit, 4 ounces of veggies, 4 ounces of cooked protein (lean) and 2 protein supplements each day - then I have the water intake and my surgeon said broth counts as the "water" intake just dont drink it as much as I do the water, which to me was a no-brainer LOL just fill the hungry spots with about 4 ounces of broth.

4 ounces of fruit..I was thinking - - yeah, I'm gonna sit there and nibble on one slice of apple for breakfast...GREAT, this is gonna suck! Oh no...I weighed my apple this morning after cutting it off the core...a WHOLE apple (at least this one) was exactly 4 ounces...wow. So I made my protein shake and am trying to fini**** ..I'm not hungry..I'm on the verge of full!! so I'm pacing myself!

My only worry is that I've eaten bad for so long, I'm scared that 2 weeks won't be enough or that more than one day of liquids only is needed.  I know I'm going to have to try and up my exercise to get this done. I'm supposed to lose at least 5 lbs.  5 pounds in 2 weeks may not seem that hard but I've been stuck at 320 for what seems like FOREVER.  Maybe the hard restrictions on the diet will be key in this part of my journey. Who knows?

Congratulations on a date!! You're amazing to lost 115 lbs on your own. I am not sure why you're being asked to lose 5 more pounds in two weeks. Staying stable on one number after losing 115 lbs definitely shows you have the ability to live the WLS lifestyle. 5 pounds is actually a lot in 2 weeks. Good luck, but if you don't hit that mark, don't allow the surgeon to postpone your surgery. The law is behind you on this one according to previous court cases.

Good luck!

Thanks =) the diet is actually just the "liver diet" to shrink it a bit..nothing horrible if I don't lose exactly 5 lbs they said but they want me to REALLY try.

Congratulations on your date!  5 lbs in two weeks pre op seems like a lot to me, but you will probably drop some water wait right off the bad.  So I am sure you will be fine.

With your pass success, I am sure that you will be successful with the surgery.
