Tons of Pain - Want to eat to comfort

Hi all,

Apparently I have a rotator cuff shoulder injury and I am in some major pain. I went to the immediate care clinic and I may not have been good at communicating how intense the pain is to the doctor. I did get a prescription for muscle relaxants, but nothing for the pain. He told me to just keep taking Tylenol. This sucks! The pain was minor at first, but it just keeps getting more intense. I am supposed to wait a week to go see my regular doctor, but I think I am going to go crazy with this pain.

I also want to comfort my pain by constantly eating. It's what I did up to around a year before surgery. It's how I dealt with physical discomfort in the past and unfortunately it's how I dealt with the pain yesterday. Today I am sipping sugar free hot chocolate and chewing gum. No matter how I sit or what I do, the pain is ever present.

Just had to vent. I am very miserable.

Omg MsBlues.  You need to get something for the pain.  Call the doctor back and tell him/her your pain is 7 or 8 or whatever your pain level is.  I am absolutely opposed to suffering.  If the tylenol is not working you need to get a perscription.  Your regular doctor may see earlier and be more willing to address the pain.  Eating is only going to relieve the pain while you are eating.  And for us that is not going to last long.

Take care.

Ms. B.

Please call the Dr and let them know you need to see them sooner rather than later due to pain.  Be insistant if need be, but don't wait.

Hugs,
Barb

I agree get in to see your regular doctor today. i can relate to shoulder pain and it is no fun. If you constantly eat it will only make you feel bad about yourself. I hope you feel better soon!
