My first post surgery weight gain! I am freaking out!
Hi all,
How is your Saturday going? Mine is mixed. I am not at work which is nice even though I like my job I still need a break from it.
I've had my first post surgery weight gain and I am freaked out. I've gained 5 pounds and all sorts of alarms are going off. I know I've allowed some snacking during the day back into my life and this could be the source of it. My old inner muncher monster seems to be very strong these days. I am sure just being a month out from my mom's death, being back at work and all the tasks of dealing with her estate are contributing to my inner muncher being so active.
Any advice on what you've done to smack down your inner muncher monster would be helpful to know. I know I'll be journaling more. Unfortunately my inner muncher is very strong when I am sitting at my desk at work.

Right now I do not recall where I read this recently. But when you are grieving the passing of your mom and want to comfort yourself with food, instead keep a golf ball nearby and soothe yourself by rolling the ball between your hand and a flat surface, or under your foot and a flat suface. It can massage some real good pressure points and help make you feel better.
God bless!

Richelle,
I totally understand. I had regained about 5 lbs and then made a decision that it wasn't acceptable. I switched my breakfast to fat free FAGE greek yogurt, added fresh berries and granola.... yum. I brought fresh blueberries and almonds for my snacks at work. Lunchtime, usually protein and a very small amount of starchy carbs and have lost it all. I truly get that carb monster too, but I have found that if I pack the healthier stuff, 9 out of 10 times I will make the right choices. Beef jerkey is a great snack too as Lynn said earlier, it is filling.
I am loving that greek yogurt though, I add sweet-n-low and my berries and granola and I feel like I'm getting a real treat.
Good luck and just know you're in our thoughts and prayers. See you soon!
Hugs,
Barb

Thanks all for the ideas. I really like the idea of having a golf ball at my desk. I also have squishy stress relief balls as well.
I love love love the Faz Greek yogurt. I will keep that handy at work. I love the idea of throwing Torani syrup in too. I never thought of that before. I've use sugar free maple syrup as well.
I am also nursing a really painful shoulder injury. I did something wrong with it while cleaning my mom's house. It even hurts to brush my teeth and sit here typing. I really don't have time to be injured. I am just hoping the muscle relaxant kicks in soon. Ugh!
I am a wreck!!
